Now it&#8217;s time to take a look at the trends in <a href=\"https:\/\/designdiffusion.com\/en\/tag\/furniture-en\/\">furniture<\/a> for 2019, so to do that we start with the first exhibition of the year, <a href=\"\/?p=139553\">imm cologne<\/a>. Although not a leading trade fair when it comes to trends, <strong>it is Europe&#8217;s second largest and most important furniture trade fair<\/strong>, and therefore gives a lot of insight into the booth.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4>The textile comeback<\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\">Although fabric has always been a central feature of upholstered furniture, in recent years <strong>there has been a great revival of upholstered chairs and armchairs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9701\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9701\" style=\"width: 689px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9700\" src=\"http:\/\/www.designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/imm-cologne-mdf-flow-textile-1.jpg\" href=\"https:\/\/www.roche-bobois.com\/en-ZZ\/rochebobois\/mah-jong-sofa-an-iconic-sofa\">Roche Bobois<\/a>, to the contemporary <strong>Tellin<\/strong> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arflex.it\/en\/prodotti\/poltrone\/1135\/tellin\/page\">Arflex<\/a>, armchairs, small armchairs and sofas increasingly use colors, textures and iridescent colors.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Ligne Roset<\/strong> presented a padded and quilted velvet for the sofa <strong>Uncover<\/strong>, designed by <strong>Marie Christine Dorner<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure the beginning of 2019, many companies introduced the color green, which seems to be much appreciated by customers. <strong>Verpan<\/strong> proposes again in green the sofa <strong>Cloverleaf<\/strong>, designed by <strong>Verner Panton<\/strong> in 1969.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9681\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9681\" style=\"width: 492px\" href=\"https:\/\/www.antoniolupi.it\/en\/products\/sinks\/albume\">Antoniolupi<\/a> also explored the <strong>bottle green color<\/strong> for the <strong>Albume<\/strong> washbasin, designed by <strong>Carlo Colombo<\/strong> and made by\u00a0<strong>Cristalmood<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9683\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9683\" style=\"width: 492px\" <strong>Arp<\/strong> sofa, covered in velvet and designed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sebastianherkner.com\">Sebastian Herkner<\/a> for the Dutch designer <strong>Linteloo<\/strong>, is also green.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9689\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9689\" style=\"width: 689px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lemamobili.com\/en\/\">Lema<\/a> suggested the green for the <strong>Fantino<\/strong> armchair, a project by <strong>Gordon Guillamier<\/strong>, covered with velvet and with a comfortable and enveloping shape.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9685\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9685\" style=\"width: 591px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" Gallotti &amp; Radice.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4>100 years of Bauhaus<\/h4>\n<p>Many of the furniture of today, still very modern, were designed in the 20s and 30s of the twentieth century, at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bauhaus.de\/en\/das_bauhaus\/\">Bauhaus<\/a>. <strong>The centenary of the foundation of the Bauhaus, perhaps the best known school of architecture and design, is celebrated in 2019.<\/strong> From there came out furniture, fabrics, watches, tableware, cutlery, and more, products <strong>that last without any effort for 100 years<\/strong> and are still very much appreciated and on the market today.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9888\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9888\" style=\"width: 787px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bauhausnowhaus.de\/de\/produkte\/sessel-sofas\/f51n\/\">Tecta<\/a>, <strong>which produces and markets Bauhaus products<\/strong>, revisited the <strong>F51 armchair<\/strong>. The F51 armchair <strong>was designed in 1923 for the &#8220;Director&#8217;s Office&#8221;<\/strong>, a project by <strong>Walter Gropius<\/strong> (founder and director of the Bauhaus from 1919 to 1928) for the first &#8220;Great Bauhaus Exhibition&#8221;.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9890\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9890\" style=\"width: 787px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9890\" src=\"http:\/\/www.designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/imm-cologne-director-office-gropius-100-bauhaus-tecta-1.jpg\" alt=\"100-bauhaus-director-office-gropius-tecta.jpg\" width=\"787\" height=\"463\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9890\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Director&#8217;s Office, designed by Walter Gropius for the &#8220;Great Bauhaus Exhibition&#8221;, 1923. (Foto Tecta).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The <strong>2019 version<\/strong> of the <strong>F51 armchair<\/strong> features new coverings, designed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.studiogreiling.com\/F51-GROPIUS-GREILING\">Katrin Greiling<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Barcelona<\/strong>, one of the most popular armchairs of all time, is also celebrated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.knoll.com\/product\/barcelona-chair\">Knoll<\/a> <strong>for the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus<\/strong>. The armchair celebrates its 90th anniversary in 2019: it was designed by <strong>Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe in 1929 for the German pavilion at the Barcelona Expo<\/strong>. Mies Van Der Rohe was director of the Bauhaus in the last period, from 1930 to 1933, the year of its definitive closure. <strong>The limited edition will be in 365 copies, one per day for 2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9899\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9899\" style=\"width: 716px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9898\" src=\"http:\/\/www.designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/KNOLL-COLONIA0303_web.jpg\" alt=\"imm-cologne-armchair-barcelona-knoll-100-bauhaus.jpg\" width=\"716\" height=\"409\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9899\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Poltrona Barcelona, designed by Mies Van Der Rohe, 1929, limited edition for the Bauhaus 100th anniversary.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The <strong>MR<\/strong>, the <strong>lounge chair designed by Mies Van Der Rohe<\/strong> around 1927 and still manufactured by <strong>Knoll<\/strong>, has also been revisited for the 100th anniversary of Bauhaus, and <strong>is covered for the first time in fabric<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9901\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9901\" style=\"width: 787px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9900\" src=\"http:\/\/www.designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/MR_Collection_BauhausEdition__MiesvanderRohe_byKnoll-1.jpg\" alt=\"imm-cologne-mr-lounge-chair-knoll-100-bauhaus.jpg\" width=\"787\" height=\"483\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9901\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">MR lounge chair, designed by Mies Van Der Rohe, 1927 ca., manufactured by Knoll, special limited edition for the Bauhaus 100 years anniversary.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4>100 years of Bauhaus with Thonet and the &#8220;bistrot&#8221; chair<\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\">Thonet, the &#8220;mother&#8221; of <a href=\"\/?p=138862\">woven cane chairs<\/a>, celebrates a double anniversary: <strong>200 years of life, 100 years of Bauhaus<\/strong>.\u00a0The <strong>Thonet 214<\/strong> chair, also known as the &#8220;bistrot&#8221; chair, is perhaps the most copied chair in the world, as well as being the first example of a chair designed for industrial production, <strong>consisting of 6 pieces, 2 plugs and 10 screws, packed to hold 36 chairs in a box of one mc<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9903\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9903\" style=\"width: 591px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9903\" src=\"http:\/\/www.designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/thonet_36_pezzi_packaging-1.jpg\" alt=\"thonet-chair-packaging.jpg\" width=\"591\" height=\"550\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9903\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The model 214 chair by Thonet, also known as &#8220;bistrot chair&#8221;, is one of the first example of industrial packaging.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\">To celebrate this double anniversary, <strong>Thonet presented new versions of the 214 chair and the MR 515 coffee table by Mies Van Der Rohe<\/strong>, and plans to hold an <strong>exhibition in May 2019<\/strong> at the Neue Sammlung &#8211; The Design Museum, Pinakothek der Moderne <strong>in Munich<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9905\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9905\" style=\"width: 787px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9905\" src=\"http:\/\/www.designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Thonet-sedia-214-versione-bicolore.jpg\" alt=\"imm-cologne-thonet-214-two-tone-chair-100-bauhaus.jpg\" width=\"787\" height=\"525\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9905\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chair 214 di Thonet, two-tone version, limited edition only in 2019, for Bauhaus 100 years. This version is designed by Besau Marguerre design studio.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4>The evergreen vintage<\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Vintage keeps fascinating<\/strong>. In addition to the countless products of the Bauhaus legacy, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.verpan.com\/verpan-for-prada\">Verpan<\/a> has also put the <strong>inflatable stool designed by Verner Panton in 1960 back into production,<\/strong> specifically for Prada for 2019.
