The 58th<\/sup> Salone del Mobile with Euroluce, Workplace 3.0 and the events dedicated to Leonardo Da Vinci\u00a0invites the international design audience from 9 to 14 April 2019<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The <\/strong>Salone del Mobile.Milano<\/a> is not just a trade fair \u2013 it\u2019s a system!<\/strong> And everybody agrees on it. It is a global system revolving around<\/strong> Milan<\/strong>. The last edition was a record<\/strong> in terms of visitors and events both at Rho Fiera fairgrounds and at the Design Week across the city, but the 58th<\/sup> edition, 9-14 April 2019, has all it needs to be even more successful.<\/p>\n

Claudio Luti<\/strong>, President of the Salone del Mobile, confirmed it during the press conference: \u201cIt is important to consolidate the Salone del Mobile\u2019s powers of attraction<\/strong>, offering its visitors not just a wide range of products, but, especially, opportunities for international interface<\/strong> and for reflection on the relationship between creativity and business<\/strong>.\u201d To those who asked if the Salone.Milano Moscow<\/a> and Salone.Milano Shanghai<\/a> could be a sort of competitor, Luti reassuringly answered, \u201cthe event is and will be here.\u201d<\/strong> International operators, including those from Russia and China, always say: \u201cSee you in Milan.\u201d<\/strong> Of course, great commitment is required not to lower the guard and maintain the primacy.<\/p>\n

The press conference dedicated to the presentation of the Salone del Mobile 2019, held on 14 February 2018 at Palazzo della Triennale, saw the participation of Alberto Bonisoli<\/strong>, Italian minister of cultural heritage and activities, who highlighted the importance of design for the Italian cultural heritage<\/strong> and reported that a specific committee is working to protect this (material and immaterial) \u2018treasure\u2019 with particular attention to museums. He also announced that the government may allocate 10 million euro in support of it.<\/p>\n

Giuseppe Sala<\/strong>, Mayor of Milan, reaffirmed the city\u2019s connection with the Salone pointing out that Milan has been awarded as Best City 2019 by the Wallpaper Design Awards. An open and concrete metropolis dedicated to design, increasingly open to tourists, that makes up for 10% of Italian GDP but still needs governmental support.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Emanuele Orsini<\/strong>, President Federlegno Arredo<\/a> Eventi, mentioned an important information: the production of furniture represents the 5% of Italian industry<\/strong>. Note that 2,100 brands will take part in the Salone and Italy hosts 80,000 brands. Federlegno Arredo pays attention to both big companies and SMEs and the Federation is about to have a new headquarters designed by architect<\/strong> Michele de Lucchi, open to anybody who is interested in design.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Architect Stefano Boeri, <\/strong>President of Triennale di Milano<\/a>, a fundamental institution for this project, announced that a permanent museum dedicated to design will open on 8 April 2019<\/strong> on the ground floor of the Palazzo on via Alemagna.<\/p>\n

INGENUITY: A NEW CHAPTER IN THE MANIFESTO OF THE<\/strong> SALONE DEL MOBILE.MILANO<\/strong><\/p>\n

Launched in 2018, the Manifesto of the Salone del Mobile.Milano is the \u201cconstitution\u201d<\/strong> that connects the world\u2019s most important furniture fair and Milan<\/strong>, which for decades have been working together on internationalization<\/strong>. And in 2019 it is amplified with a strong word, \u201cingenuity,\u201d meaning intelligence as the origin of creativity, talent, skills <\/strong>to do and think. An appropriate concept in the year of the celebrations of the genius of Leonardo da Vinci, which also alludes to the liveliness of the entrepreneurial\/design spirit and to the industriousness of Milan and the surrounding territories \u00a0<\/span>A NEW \u201cSCATTERED\u201d EXHIBITION FOR THE OFFICE<\/strong><\/p>\n

In line with the great changes that are taking place in the world of work, Workspace 3.0 2019 <\/strong>is not concentrated in just some pavilions but scattered: the 52 exhibiting companies <\/strong>will be arranged along a different path going through various pavilions dedicated to furniture reflecting the hybridization of office work, in the latest years, with other functional spaces, including private houses. It includes places open to sharing and coworking, <\/strong>with versatile and smart furnishings <\/strong>featuring technology. <\/strong>The innovations in the workspace are reflected by the Salone with the keywords Liquid Space, Privacy, Worker centered design.<\/strong><\/p>\n

S.PROJECT: INTERIOR DESIGN LIVES HERE<\/strong><\/p>\n

Moreover, during this edition a crosscutting exhibition path (pavilions 22 and 24) dedicated to design products and decorative and technical interior design solutions: <\/strong>S.Project will be a multifaceted and multisectorial space hosting 66 exhibitors, 32% of them international<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

EUROLUCE AND SALONE SATELLITE<\/strong><\/p>\n

The biennial International Lighting Exhibition<\/strong>, field where technological innovation is more evident and spectacular than others, in 2019 will host 421 exhibitors (48%<\/strong> of them from other countries<\/strong>). The theme of the 22nd<\/sup> edition of the SaloneSatellite, an established springboard for young talents who are given the chance to meet journalists and entrepreneurs, will be<\/strong> ‘Food as a Design Object’<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

TWO INSTALLATIONS DEDICATED TO LEONARDO<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2019, for the 500th<\/sup> anniversary of his death, Leonardo da Vinci will be commemorated in Italy and all over the world. The Salone del Mobile kicks off with two events that pay a tribute to his multifarious ingenuity: from art to science and technology. In particular, Leonardo lived and worked twenty years in Milan<\/strong>, at the court of Lodovico il Moro, attracted by the technological innovation of the city.<\/p>\n

In the city: AQUA. Leonardo\u2019s vision <\/strong><\/p>\n

In a particular historical place, where\u00a0 Leonardo worked on the sluice system, i.e. Conca dell’Incoronata, from 5 to 14 April, Marco Balich<\/strong>\u2019s spectacular installation, with <\/strong>Balich Worldwide Shows<\/a>, will take visitors on a journey in opposite directions: Milan\u2019s Renaissance past and its future. The Conca will be covered with a great expanse of water, with a LED screen; while below, inside the canal, in a cabinet of curiosities<\/strong>, it will be possible to live a site-specific immersive experience on the shape and energy of water including sound effects.<\/p>\n

Trade fair premises: <\/strong>DE-SIGNO. The art of Italian design before and after Leonardo<\/strong><\/p>\n

The monumental<\/strong> 400 sq m installation conceived by Davide Rampello and <\/strong>designed by architect Alessandro Colombo, <\/strong>inspired by Bramante\u2019s work, <\/strong>will feature 4 cinema screens for a music and visual show <\/strong>that will illustrate Leonardo\u2019s design skills and the industriousness of Renaissance workshops compared with contemporary design companies: under the banner of Italian culture and beauty.<\/strong><\/p>\n

THREE-YEAR PARTNERSHIP WITH TEATRO ALLA SCALA<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Salone del Mobile has signed a three-year partnership with Fondazione Teatro alla Scala<\/a>, until 2021, when it will celebrate the 60th<\/sup> edition<\/strong>! Therefore, the cultural relationship with the city becomes even stronger and the design community that every year takes part in the Salone is offered the opportunity to live a unique experience. This year, for the first time ever, the Salone will open with a great concert. Riccardo Chailly <\/strong>(musical director of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan) will conduct the Ouverture of Semiramide and Guglielmo Tell by Gioachino Rossini and Pictures at an Exhibition, composed by Modest Mussorgski and arranged by Maurice Ravel: an emotionally impactful piece of music that will transmit its energy to all those actors who make it their business to ensure the success of the Salone every year, without reservation!
