It&#8217;s the most important furniture fair in the world, and over time it has expanded dramatically, turning into a <strong>lifestyle event involving furniture brands, fashion, consumer electronics, publishing<\/strong>, and more.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10919\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10919\" style=\"width: 689px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10918\" src=\"http:\/\/www.designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/antoniolupi-GESSATI-1.jpg\" alt=\"booth-antonio-lupi-salone-mobile-2019.jpg\" width=\"689\" height=\"689\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10919\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Antonio Lupi booth, 2019; i Gessati, by Gumdesign<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This universal reputation is also built up by the high level of the booths layout, a feature of the exhibition project to which companies allocate large budgets and a great deal of commitment. Many brands hire internationally renowned architects to design their stands, built as complete architectures, even if temporary and with all the restrictions imposed by being inside the exhibition halls (safety regulations, etc.).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11045\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11045\" style=\"width: 787px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11044\" src=\"http:\/\/www.designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/vitra-salone-19-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"stand-vitra-salone-mobile-2019.jpg\" width=\"787\" height=\"591\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-11045\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Stand Vitra at Salone 2019<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A tour through some of the booths at <strong>Salone del Mobile<\/strong> and <strong>Euroluce<\/strong> 2019 highlights the commitment of companies to create different moods each year, not only in the style of their products, but also and above all in the atmosphere conveyed through the booths layouts, which range from the cloister of the Venetian palace to the shop windows of the city centre, including global living styles and a forest of dreams.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11037\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11037\" style=\"width: 787px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11036\" src=\"http:\/\/www.designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/USM_Salone-19-4-1.jpg\" alt=\"stand-usm-salone-mobile-2019.jpg\" width=\"787\" height=\"525\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-11037\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">USM booth, 2019, a detail<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This is a remarkable commitment, <strong>considering that both firms and designers are working for a year for an ephemeral architecture<\/strong>. But the week of Milan Salone del Mobile can make a difference, so the energy spent in each edition seems to be increasing more and more, and <strong>the commitment to setting up booths in <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/designdiffusion.com\/en\/tag\/furniture-en\/\">furniture<\/a><strong> trade shows<\/strong>, which originated in Italy, <strong>has set an example and spread throughout the world<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10939\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10939\" style=\"width: 984px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10938\" src=\"http:\/\/www.designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/BOFFI_Salone-19-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"stand-boffi-salone-mobile-2019.jpg\" width=\"984\" height=\"442\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10939\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Detail of the Boffi-De Padova-Ma\/U Studio booth 2019. Foto Tommaso Sartori<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4>The architecture of the settings<\/h4>\n<p>The journey through the stands begins with <a href=\"\/?p=140166\">Kartell<\/a> and <strong>Ferruccio Laviani, a collaboration which has been going on for almost 30 years<\/strong>, and led to many impressive and spectacular booths.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11093\" src=\"http:\/\/www.designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/Kartell_Windows_6-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In 2019, Kartell and Laviani presented &#8220;<strong>Kartell Windows&#8221;, a walk through 22 shop windows<\/strong>, which can be recreated by retailers in their own space, mixing new products and historical icons of the brand.<\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.designdiffusion.com\/en\/2018\/10\/05\/design-holding-for-european-high-end-interior-design\/\">Design Holding<\/a>, the new holding company controlling <strong>B&amp;B Italia<\/strong>, <strong>Flos<\/strong>, <strong>Louis Poulsen<\/strong> and <strong>Arc Linea<\/strong>, debuted as a Group in 2019 in the new <strong>S. Project<\/strong> area, with a setting designed by <strong>Calvi Brambilla<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-2' class='gallery galleryid-19123 gallery-columns-3 gallery-size-large'><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/designdiffusion.com\/en\/2020\/07\/14\/mara-for-hivos-headquarters-in-the-hague\/mara_hivos-headquarters_02_hr-2\/'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/MARA_Hivos-Headquarters_02_HR.jpg\" class=\"attachment-large size-large\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/MARA_Hivos-Headquarters_02_HR.jpg 984w, https:\/\/designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/MARA_Hivos-Headquarters_02_HR-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/MARA_Hivos-Headquarters_02_HR-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>The space, divided into three separate areas by brand, shared a long entrance hallway, <strong>with an interactive wall by Dotdotdot<\/strong>, dotted with icons of Italian design.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11057\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11057\" style=\"width: 787px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11056\" src=\"http:\/\/www.designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/design-holding-ingresso-salone-2019-2.jpg\" alt=\"stand-design-holding-salone-mobile-2019.jpg\" width=\"787\" height=\"525\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-11057\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Stand Design Holding at Salone del Mobile 2019<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4>Green, nature and water<\/h4>\n<p>Looking for ever-changing solutions, <strong>Flexform<\/strong> celebrated the debut of the Outdoor collection by <strong>creating a green oasis in the middle of the stand<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>The oasis, located in the middle of the exhibition space, served both to separate the <strong>Flexform<\/strong> collections from the <strong>Flexform Mood<\/strong> collections and, at the same time, thanks to the openings in the ceiling, to keep a fresh atmosphere, with a continuous recirculation of air.\u00a0One of the problems with the exhibition halls is that when they are very crowded the atmosphere becomes very heavy, and natural greenery can help you breathe better.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>The green, and the workplace project<\/strong>, were also the focus of the <strong>UN Studio<\/strong> project for <strong>USM<\/strong>. Combining the modularity of USM systems and the needs of contemporary work, the setting recreated work spaces based on the concept of collaboration and co-working. An area where you can &#8220;grow, think, learn and share ideas and thoughts&#8221;. And where there is green, to breathe better.<\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;<strong>When Water Meets 1999-2019<\/strong>&#8221; is the name of <strong>Piero Lissoni<\/strong>&#8216;s project, with which <strong>Boffi-De Padova-MA\/U Studio and ADL<\/strong> celebrated their debut in the new S. Project area. Here, living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and collective areas were exhibited in a large collective space, A return to the origins in a circular time, w<strong>hich began in 1999 with the booth at Abitare il Tempo trade show, with islands in the middle of mirrors of water<\/strong>, and ideally reached 2019, with a bigger history.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10933\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10933\" style=\"width: 787px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10932\" src=\"http:\/\/www.designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/BOFFI_Salone_19_7-1.jpg\" alt=\"stand-boffi-salone-mobile-2019.jpg\" width=\"787\" height=\"590\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10933\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Stand Boffi-De Padova-Ma\/U Studio 2019. To create a welcoming setting for the project, the stand was wrapped in a sort of &#8220;skin&#8221;, a cover made of transparent polycarbonate panels, personalized with a red breakdown of the Foscarini logo. Open and more intimate areas alternated, providing places where the public could sit freely, to highlight the concept of sharing.<\/p>\n\n<h4>Art galleries and Italian palaces<\/h4>\n<p>Again, <strong>Calvi Brambilla<\/strong> designed the <strong>Antoniolupi Gallery<\/strong>, the space which the Tuscan company dedicated to its projects in the S. Project area. A welcoming entrance with natural greenery and water, followed by products on display as in an art gallery: the &#8220;fire room&#8221;, with bioethanol fireplaces, the &#8220;picture gallery&#8221;, with mirrors, the &#8221; Gypsum library&#8221;, with <strong>marbles by Paolo Ulian<\/strong> and <a href=\"\/?p=139362\">Gumdesign<\/a>, and finally the &#8220;glass room&#8221;, with Cristalmood washbasins. An exhibition project recreating impressive settings.<\/p>\n\n<p>A new idea of modern and contemporary moquette was the focus of the <strong>Radici<\/strong> stand, which presented the new collection &#8220;<strong>The geometry of nature<\/strong>&#8220;, designed by <strong>Carolina Nisivoccia<\/strong>, who also designed the setting where it was displayed.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11003\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11003\" style=\"width: 787px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11002\" src=\"http:\/\/www.designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/radici-salone-19-4-1.jpg\" alt=\"stand-radici-salone-mobile-2019.jpg\" width=\"787\" height=\"524\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-11003\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Stand Radici 2019<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The two patterns, which are clearly in contrast, Fold &amp; Stripes and Overlapping, covered the two rooms in their entirety, to show that <strong>moquette can perform any function, covering any type of product like a skin, thanks to the new printing technologies<\/strong>. In addition, today the carpeting can satisfy the requirements of creativity, production speed, sustainability and ease of cleaning, thus becoming a very appealing product.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Swedish studio Note<\/strong> designed a booth for <a href=\"https:\/\/designdiffusion.com\/en\/2019\/04\/30\/magis-presents-the-material-of-the-future-magnesium\/\">Magis<\/a> inspired by the <strong>inward courtyards of ancient Italian palaces<\/strong>, cloisters, to evoke the serene atmosphere and sharing. A large open central space was thus surrounded by smaller rooms, with products on display in subsequent settings.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10993\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10993\" style=\"width: 787px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10992\" src=\"http:\/\/www.designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/magis-stand-salone-2019-10-1.jpg\" alt=\"stand-magis-salone-mobile-2019.jpg\" width=\"787\" height=\"525\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10993\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Magis booth, 2019<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Colors and rooms thus recreated the spaces of classical Italian architecture, inspired by the Doge&#8217;s Palace in Venice, and all around the color of water, the element unifying the lagoon city.<\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"\/?p=139925\">Knoll<\/a>\u00a0chose <strong>OMA<\/strong> again in 2019 for its stand at the Salone del Mobile 2019. <strong>OMA and Knoll celebrated the centenary of the Bauhaus by recreating the ceiling of the fourth-floor gallery at the Whitney Museum in New York, a 1966 project by Marcel Breuer.<\/strong> In the original design of the Whitney Museum, the fourth-floor gallery ceiling was a precast coffered concrete grid.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11027\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11027\" style=\"width: 750px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11026\" src=\"http:\/\/www.designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/stand-knoll-salone-19-1-1.jpg\" alt=\"stand-knoll-salone-mobile-2019.jpg\" width=\"750\" height=\"500\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-11027\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Knoll booth, 2019<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>OMA&#8217;s design for booth 2019 focused on different materials, recreating different backgrounds for settings that suited the products, new or iconic design of the mid-twentieth century. A sequence of both closed and open spaces, with a scenic reception desk.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Four different lifestyles for Vitra: the collector, the bohemian, the nomad and the global entrepreneur<\/strong>. These lifestyles inspired different settings, with design icons and new products by the German company which wrote significant pages in the history of design and architecture.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11055\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11055\" style=\"width: 787px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11054\" src=\"http:\/\/www.designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/vitra-salone-19-6.jpg\" alt=\"stand-vitra-salone-mobile-2019.jpg\" width=\"787\" height=\"591\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-11055\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Vitra booth, 2019<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>The common thread in the design of the rooms are colors and materials, a theme on which Vitra has been working for a while<\/strong>; with the consultancy of <strong>Hella Jongerius<\/strong>, the company developed the Vitra Colours &amp; Materials Library, which contains a virtually unlimited number of finishes and shades, available to designers.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s no need to add much to the fame of the Salone del Mobile.Milano.
