Focus on Design is the exhibition dedicated to Brazilian design, the first in a series of exhibitions that Ambiente will dedicate to contemporary design <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Ambiente<\/a>, one of the world\u2019s leading trade fairs for home d\u00e9cor and tableware, is also a platform for the diffusion of design in the world. That\u2019s why, starting from the 2020 edition, it will include “Focus on Design”, an exhibition that selects the best of contemporary design from a specific country.<\/p>\n

The first edition of Focus on Design is dedicated to Brazil. This South American country has a great tradition in architecture and design, dating back to the mid-twentieth century. However, partly because of its geographical distance, partly because until a few years ago communication was not as fast as it is today, Brazilian design is not as much known in the world as it could (and should) be. Ambiente, has therefore decided to select five Brazilian designers and studios for the exhibition and to complete the exploration of new talent with the work of young designers in the Talents area, in Hall 8.<\/p>\n

The next edition of Ambiente will be held in Frankfurt from 7 to 11 February 2020.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Brazil at “Focus on design”<\/h3>\n

Rodrigo Almeida<\/h4>\n

One of the best-known names of the new generation of Brazilian designers, he has conquered also the international market with his work. His projects range from works of art to furniture, everyday objects, fashion and accessories. Original, versatile and very talented, Rodrigo Almeida has become a protagonist of the design scene, not only in Brazil.<\/p>\n

Bianca Barbato<\/span><\/h4>\n

She is a self-taught designer specializing in furniture, lamps and many other products. Inspired by the research on ancient techniques, her design recalls memories and traditions, but it relies also on experimentation with new materials and technologies. After a period in Rio de Janeiro, Bianca Barbato is currently based in S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n

Brunno Jahara<\/span><\/h4>\n

Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brunno Jahara studied industrial design in Brazil before moving to Italy, where he studied architecture in Venice. Later he worked at Fabrica, the Benetton Group\u2019s communications research centre. With his bright products and furniture that tell the story of Brazil with an international language, Jahara is a leading figure on the contemporary design scene in Brazil.<\/p>\n

S\u00e9rgio J. Matos<\/span><\/h3>\n

According to S\u00e9rgio J. Matos, originally from Mato Grosso, design is not only functionality, but it has the power to protect stories, memories and bonds. Inspired by this philosophy, Matos designs furniture and objects with a strong regional identity, characterized by the use of traditional materials and craft techniques. Thanks to this link with his identity, Sergio J. Matos\u2019 design has made its way in the world and has contributed to the international success of Brazilian design.<\/p>\n

Rain<\/span><\/h4>\n

Rain is the design studio founded in 2015 in S\u00e3o Paulo by Ricardo Innecco and Marianna Ramos, an architect and a product designer. The studio is mainly active in the design of furniture, lights and objects for everyday use, with a strong graphic and sculptural character. In addition to mass production, Rain collaborates with several galleries, with which it creates limited editions and installations.<\/p>\n
