ADHOC Architects present Your Place at the Table!, an installation that invites people to rediscover the streets of the city center during the health emergency<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Design and architecture firm ADHOC Architects <\/strong>has created Your Place at the Table!, an installation<\/strong> in the Hydro-Quebec Parc in Montreal. This work is one of the 3 TULIPs \u2013 les Terrasses Urbaines Libres au Public. An urban project<\/strong> strongly supported by the Partenariat du Quartier des Spectacles, a Montreal-based non-for-profit association that, by managing public places in the Quartier des Spectacles and organizing numerous cultural activities, is responsible for developing and culturally enhancing the city center<\/strong>. The project tasked the city\u2019s most famous architecture and design firms to create three public spaces, including Your Place at the Table! \u2013 spaces for the community<\/strong> that invite the citizens to populate the streets of the center with optimism and caution, in compliance with anti-Covid regulations.<\/p>\n

Your Place at the Table!, the urban table by ADHOC Architects<\/h3>\n

Your Place at the Table! is the installation created by ADHOC Architects<\/a> for the 3 TULIPs \u2013 les Terrasses Urbaines Libres au Public \u2013 project. It was designed to safely accommodate and attract Montrealers to the Hydro-Quebec Parc<\/strong>. This institutional park, designed in 2008 by Claude Cormier et Associ\u00e9s<\/a>, is located in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles. The installation consists of a yellow 100 m long curvilinear table<\/strong> that winds like a ribbon between the trees and urban furniture. This work is completed by 80 chairs and stools, and recycled tableware including jugs, cups, cruets, vases, plates and cutlery, placed on the table.<\/p>\n

The distance between the groups of objects fosters social distancing<\/strong>. The installation works in synergy with 22 local restaurants. People can use the spaces of the installation alone or with others to chat, study, relax, have lunch or dinner, ordering food at one of these restaurants. Your Place at the Table! presents a new and safe way of sharing a moment collectively in the city<\/strong>. On show until October 2020, Your Place at the Table! will be accompanied by a cultural program supporting the economic and social relaunch of the city after the months-long forced stop.<\/p>\n

The Hydro-Quebec Parc is located in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles in Montreal. Designed by Claude Cormier et Associ\u00e9s in 2008, it stands on a 3,260 sqm plot and unfolds like a huge metal grill suspended above a naturalized ground surface. The metal grate allows trees and plants to grow naturally while allowing rainwater to flow into the soil, protecting the ground from compaction. In this way the soil remains porous, and plants and trees can get the right nutrients to survive.<\/p>\n
