On June 2nd, 2019, 68 works, including 36 works by contemporary artists and 32 design objects, were presented. As Mattarella highlighted, \u201cIt is precisely in the harshest and most difficult moments that the need for art and culture is most keenly felt, due to their ability to generate fundamental energy for our individual and collective life.\u201d For this reason, despite this difficult period, Quirinale Contemporaneo goes on, although currently it can be visited only virtually.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_150171\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-150171\" style=\"width: 1308px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-150171 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.designdiffusion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/paola_navone_pinecone.jpg\" alt=\"quirinale-design-italiano-2020.jpg\" width=\"1308\" height=\"879\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-150171\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pinecone lamp, by Paola Navone for Fontana Arte<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>The Quirinale Contemporaneo <\/strong><strong>collection<\/strong><strong>, curated by Cristina Mazzantini<\/strong>, head of cultural heritage of the Quirinal, includes many Italian design icons \u2013 both industrial products and art design collections. Introducing Italian design at the <a href=\"https:\/\/palazzo.quirinale.it\/mostre\/2020_quirinale-contemporaneo\/contemporaneo2020_home.html\">Quirinal<\/a> has two merits: it brings institutions closer to one\u2019s personal life, and it bring visitors closer to Italian design by placing furnishings in the courtly atmosphere of a museum. Designers and companies from different periods and geographical areas have been selected to provide a representation of Italian design as inclusive as possible. Works and products express the tradition of craftsmanship in fine workmanship, as well as the industrial quality of the most advanced technology.
