The fifth edition of Alcova takes place in the spaces of the Ex-Macello in Milan, exploring different aspects of design<\/h2>\n

Alcova<\/a> returns in 2023, curated by Joseph Grima (Space Caviar) and Valentina Ciuffi (Studio Ved\u00e8t)<\/strong>. The fifth edition returns to a place in Milan that has been closed to the public for many years, the Ex-Macello in the Porta Vittoria area, which has recently been partially redeveloped and reopened for the occasion. It also returns 35 years after the legendary exhibition Mattatoio 1988<\/strong>, organized by Pallucco in the abandoned \u2013 and then in ruins \u2013 spaces of the slaughterhouse.<\/div>\n

A journey into the matter<\/h3>\n
For this new edition, the spaces of the Ex-Macello in Porta Vittoria will host over 70 projects<\/strong>, exploring different and complementary directions of design practice. The research platform Atelier LUMA \u2013 LUMA, Arles, coordinated by Jan Boelen, will offer visitors a scenographic journey into the world of matter. The theme of materials and their role in contemporary design will also inspire a large-scale installation by the Finnish platform Habitarematerials<\/strong>. The installation, curated by Nemo Architects, will lead visitors to explore and interact with a large encyclopedia of innovative and sustainable materials.<\/div>\n

Among the novelties of this year is the Alcova Project Space<\/strong>, where the Alcova team will present and promote a selection of projects that represent the most interesting design languages of the moment. It is a real exhibition within the exhibition, where there will also be a concept store activated together with OLDER, which, in addition to the collectible design pieces of the Milanese duo, will propose objects designed specifically for this edition.<\/div>\n

In addition to a food court, Alcova will also have two bars designed especially to enliven some of the most beautiful corners of the Ex-Macello. Designed by Space Caviar, the Materials Bar<\/strong> and the Bar Galleria<\/strong> are both curated by the food masters of the Tuorlo Magazine team. The first will be presented in collaboration with Nemo Architects\/Habitarematerials, while the second will see the participation of the Canadian lighting brand A-N-D.<\/div>\n

A show that reveals the true nature of Denmark: This is Denmark<\/strong>, curated by Elena Cattaneo<\/strong> and Laura Traldi<\/strong>, with the exhibition design by Matteo Ragni Studio<\/strong>, a project of the Royal Danish Embassy in collaboration with The Confederation of Danish Industry and Creative Denmark<\/strong>. Fifteen objects represent the essence of Danish design, expressing tradition and contemporaneity at the same time. The immersive set-up is completed with sounds, colors, atmosphere.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
