Kvadrat presents Sport, the first recycled polyester fabric collection entirely made out of ocean-bound plastic waste, designed in collaboration with Patricia Urquiola<\/h2>\n\n

Sport is the new Kvadrat fabric collection designed in collaboration with world-renowned Spanish designer and architect Patricia Urquiola<\/a>. An example of green design that demonstrates the brand’s commitment to designing new textures in a conscious and sustainable way. In fact, the new collection designed by Patricia Urquiola uses the world’s first upholstery fabric made from 100% ocean-bound plastic waste.<\/p>\n\n

The new eco-friendly and high-tech fabrics by Kvadrat<\/h3>\n\n

Inspired by sportswear and the look of technical fabrics, Urquiola designed a fabric with sophisticated binding that adds tactile multidimensionality to the structure. The new Kvadrat fabric was designed in collaboration with #tide, a Swiss company committed to building a global supply chain for premium durable second-life raw materials. <\/p>\n\n

The post-consumer plastic used to produce Sport is mostly collected before it reaches the water. It is, in fact collected within a maximum distance of 10 kilometers to the shoreline and on remote islands in Thailand.<\/p>\n\n

Sport: main advantages and features<\/h3>\n\n

Sport offers sustainability advantages over other polyester fabrics made from ocean plastic. These fabrics, in fact, often incorporate plastics recovered much further from the sea \u2013 as far as 50 km away from the coasts and the sea \u2013 and already disintegrated at sea. What remains of plastic in the water is very porous, therefore, virgin polyester or polyester recycled from other post-consumer plastic sources needs to be incorporated.<\/p>\n\n

Sport is available in warm, cold and neutral colors. All of the shades give the fabric a bold look that is perfect for any interior design style.<\/p>\n\n
