Rome is to host a talk focused on the new generation of Finnish architects and the common values with Studio Aalto<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Finish firms AOA, VERSTAS<\/strong> and JKMM Architects<\/strong> will be the protagonists of Finnish Architecture. The new generation of Finnish architects and the common values with Studio Aalto. The meeting will take place on March 5, 2024, 6-7.30 p.m., in the Sala Carlo Scarpa of the MAXXI MAXXI National Museum of 21st Century Arts, Via Guido Reni 4A, Rome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s new in Finnish architecture<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Finnish architects Selina Anttinen, Jussi Palva,<\/strong> and Asmo Jaaksi<\/strong> will illustrate, exclusively and as a preview for Italy, a selection of some new human-scale projects recently bult in Finland. These projects are dedicated to culture, education and new workspaces and show special attention to environmental sustainability, respect for human beings, technological innovation, architectural recovery and urban regeneration. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new generation of Finnish architects and designers and the common values with Studio Aalto<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The meeting with AOA<\/strong>, VERSTAS<\/strong> and JKMM Architects<\/strong> is the second in a series of two meetings titled “Finnish Architecture and Design. The new generation of Finnish Architects and Designers and the common values with Studio Aalto” scheduled at MAXXI on the occasion of the exhibition “AALTO – Aino Alvar Elissa. The Human Dimension of Design” (open to the public until May 26, 2024). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event has been organized to highlight the role and the importance that the sustainability and human dimension of the project play in contemporary Finnish architecture and design. Its goal is to foster discussion and create an opportunity for dialogue and professional exchange between the Italian and the Finnish scene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event, curated by Arianna Callocchia<\/strong>, is promoted by MAXXI<\/strong> National Museum of 21st Century Arts<\/strong>, and is organized in collaboration with Embassy of Finland in Italy<\/strong>, ATL \u2013 The Association of Finnish Architects\u2019 Offices<\/strong>, Ordine degli Architetti P.P.C. di Roma e provincia<\/strong> (Rome Chamber of Architects) and IED Roma \u2013 Istituto Europeo di Design. <\/strong>Partner of the events ACROBATICA.<\/strong> Main Partner ENI.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The projects by Anttinen, Palva, Jaaksi<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, moderated by Antonello Alici<\/strong>, Associate Professor of History of Architecture, Polytechnic University of Marche, architects Selina Anttinen, Jussi Palva<\/strong> and Asmo Jaaksi<\/strong> will illustrate a selection of some of their most significant works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AOA Architects<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Selina Anttinen<\/strong>, Founding Partner, AOA, Anttinen Oiva Architects, will present Katajanokan Laituri. A new building close to Alvar Aalto\u2019s original Enso-Gutzeit Headquarter in the Katajanokka Pier of Helsinki. It will be completed by the end of the 2024 and will represent a significant example for the sustainable development of cities. Katajanokan Laituri is the first new construction along the Katajanokka shoreline and it will be built almost entirely of wood. It will host offices, commercial spaces, restaurants and other amenities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verstas Architects<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Jussi Palva<\/strong>, Founding Partner, Verstas Architects, will illustrate the Lamminrahka Education Centre recently completed in the town of Kangasala in Finland\u2019s Tampere Region. The building hosts a primary school, a nursery, a school canteen and a gym, and it has been designed to meet the needs of the pupils and the whole community. In fact, Lamminrahka can be used also in the evenings and on weekends as a meeting space for educational, sporting and recreational activities. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

JKMM Architects<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Asmo Jaaksi<\/strong>, Founding Partner, JKMM Architects, will present the Chappe Art House. A new building dedicated to culture and contemporary art completed in 2023 in Tammisaari, an historic town founded in 1546 in the southern coast of Finland and known for its timber architecture dating back to the 18th century. The project fits into the urban context as an element of novelty and continuity at the same time, as it harmoniously dialogues with the site through a contemporary architectural language that combines natural materials, craftsmanship and local construction traditions while respecting human and environmental needs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
