Titled Terra Cosmos, the new edition of Maison&Objet will be held in Paris, September 5-9, 2024. France\u2019s most famous design exhibition will invite its visitors on an awe-inspiring journey focused on novelty, creativity, and innovation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Connection, immersion, virtuality, smart materials, 3D, AI… A part of the fantasy is becoming reality and consumers, inspired by new aesthetics, are ready for immersive, sensory experiences. This is exactly what the next edition of Maison&Objet will offer its visitors with Terra Cosmos.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cosmic phenomena in the hospitality and retail sectors<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The theme of the new edition of Maison&Objet can be easily seen in the hospitality and retail sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just think of Danish chef Rasmus Munk, who, in his restaurant in Copenhagen, Alchemist, offers a “holistic” menu in an immersive setting. Cosmic effects also characterize El Cosmico<\/a> hotel, in a deserted Texan landscape. This luxury campsite will soon be equipped with 3D-printed dwellings allowing the guests to observe the celestial vault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the Acne Studios boutique to the Moncler pop-up store in Tokyo, the cosmic references in retail can be found also in futuristic decors and digital shopping experiences. Avantgarde aesthetics are paving the way for a new form of consumerism with physical spaces that seem to come from the metaverse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The materials of the future<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Based on the assumption that our society is increasingly open to the unknown, the fair will be an opportunity to discover next-generation materials that look toward the future: iridescent, sophisticated, evocative and intense. Even the shapes of the products, round and oval, will emphasize the cosmic aspect of the exhibition. Therefore, these design novelties will evoke the beginning of a pre-futuristic space era of research and innovation and new environmental goals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s New in Retail, Hospitality and Decor<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Terra Cosmos theme will inspire the whole show, from product curation to events and the visitor route. Through the eyes of the curators, Fran\u00e7ois Delclaux and Elizabeth Leriche, visitors will get a well-honed insight into the theme. The What’s New? In Retail and What’s New? In Decor spaces will feature a wide range of products integrated into inspiring displays ready to amaze visitors with their materials, shapes and colors. On the other hand, the What’s New? In Hospitality space will be assigned entirely to Lionel Jadot, Designer of the Year 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Immersive settings, masterclasses with key opinion leaders, and round table discussions will address this edition\u2019s theme with enthusiasm and deep interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maison&Objet 2024 unveils the winners of the Rising Talents Awards<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This year, the Maison&Objet team has set its compass towards the Arctic Circle to choose the winners of the 2024 Rising Talents Awards. In keeping with tradition, the winners are all under the age of 35, and launched their studios less than five years ago. The geographical area covers the Scandinavian countries of Sweden, Denmark, and Norway, plus Finland and Iceland. The vast glow of the midnight sun bathes the land in a light most fertile for design. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Nordic countries as a whole are extremely dynamic and underpinned by a rich history, world-renowned talent, and considerable expertise. Northern Europe has a different relationship with time and natural materials, which are often left in their rawest state. The younger generation is asserting its new language, often close to that of Craft and Collectible Design,” said Dereen O’Sullivan, head of the Rising Talents Awards at Maison&Objet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CHRISTIAN + JADE<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Christian Hammer Juhl, 33, is Danish, and Jade Chan, 29, was born in Singapore. Both studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands. They founded their studio together in Copenhagen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

ALI SHA GALLEFOSS<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Ali Shah Gallefoss, 35, grew up in Bergen, Norway. He now lives and works in Oslo. He began his career as a buyer of luxury ready-to-wear fashion, which led him to travel from Paris to Milan at an early age. After that, he went on to study at the Bergen Academy of Art and Design, before obtaining a Master’s Degree at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LAB LA BLA <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Axel Landstr\u00f6m and Victor Isaksson Pirtti are both 31 years old. They grew up in the small town of Lule\u00e5, just below the Arctic Circle. Instantly inseparable, they followed the same school curriculum at the Lorenzo de’ Medici Institute of Jewellery Design in Florence, followed by a degree in Industrial Design in Sweden. They now live and work in Malm\u00f6. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

FREDERIC GUSTAV <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Frederik Weber and Gustav Dupont are both 31 years old. They met while studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts for Design, where they graduated in Furniture Design and then Spatial Design. They now live and work in Copenhagen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

ANTREI HARTIKEINEN<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Antrei Hartikainen was born in the village of Outokumpu, in eastern Finland, where he studied carpentry at secondary school before going on to perfect his woodworking skills at Salpaus Further Education in the town of Lahti. At the age of 32, he has already been named Designer of the Year by Design Forum Finland, and Rising Star of the Year by the Scandinavian Design Awards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

STUDIO FLETTA <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Birta R\u00f3s Brynj\u00f3lfsd\u00f3ttir and Hrefna Sigur\u00f0ard\u00f3ttir are 32 and 34 years old respectively, and live and work in Reykjavik, Iceland. They both studied Product Design at the Iceland Academy of the Arts, where they met during their studies before founding Studio Fl\u00e9tta in 2018. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

MALIN IDA ERIKSSON <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Malin Ida Eriksson is a 31-year-old ceramist. Her studio is based in Stockholm, Sweden, in a former porcelain factory where around some 100 artists work side by side. Having studied art at the Universities of G\u00f6teborg, Sweden, and Bergen, Norway, she went on to achieve a Master’s Degree at the Stockholm University of the Arts, or Konstfack. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
