For my own intervention in this First Salone del Mobile\u2019s Euroluce International Lighting Forum, I hope to offer a unique perspective into approaching a classical challenge, that is, presenting form formally in a curated setting. My workshop will center on complex and powerful approaches to light in exhibition spaces. Museums and exhibitions offer visitors unique voyages through space and time as they appreciate art, where I believe light serves as a guide. By studying how we can better present objects in dedicated presentation spaces, we can enhance our use of light in casual spaces, ultimately bettering our personal environment and spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What indispensable characteristics should the Artificial Light(ing) of the future necessarily have? [conditio sine qua non]

It is important that light quality, interoperability, and maintenance improve. Recent advances in technology have somewhat degraded a healthy light for living. While we have gained the possibility to play with color, put lighting into more locations, and integrate light into objects, we have lost part of our color spectrum. Literally, color information is draining from our lives.
Modern artificial lighting should preserve the full color spectrum. Modern artificial lighting should be made of materials that don’t harm the environment. Modern artificial lighting should not trade short-term energy expense benefits for long-term replacement costs. Modern artificial lighting should be standardized to allow the nonprofessional to choose, develop, and maintain, a personal lighting environment economically and with confidence. Modern artificial lighting should not simply bring more features to spite the wisdom of past technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Which is the Project of yours, that you firmly consider Timeless \/ Senza Tempo and for which reason?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
None. Light is in constant flux. The sun passes overhead. We move from room to room. A theatrical scene is created before our eyes. Lights is always changing around us. Even our perception
of static light changes based on our time within an environment. My projects are always
firmly rooted in time and built for a specific engagement. Therefore, each one is custom
tailored to an experience. Light is a physical medium. It is powerfully informed by our
perception and experience. And our perception and experiences are constantly changing.
Every new project is a chance to see the world anew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
