The precious Bvlgari creations \u2013 showcased in a striking runway show at the magnificent Greek Theatre of Taormina \u2013 were temporarily exhibited within the prestigious San Domenico Palace hotel, whose interiors have long been adorned with fabrics by the Venetian Maison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Here, adding to the atmosphere of the event and \u201cparading\u201d through the hotel\u2019s grand halls, were also the tapestries specially created by Rubelli for the occasion. These are textile reproductions of works by two very different contemporary artists: Alessandro Florio, a Sicilian painter (originally from Taormina!), and Zach Lieberman, an American visual artist and designer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In both artists\u2019 works, it is color that dominates and enchants\u2014instantly evoking the creations of Bvlgari displayed in the temporary exhibition cases. Indeed, the very name of the collection, Polychroma<\/em>, calls to mind the variety and richness of color which, through its many shades, becomes a universal language when expressed in gemstones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The tapestries, developed at Rubelli\u2019s Venetian headquarters and produced at its weaving mill in Cucciago (Como), masterfully reproduce the chromatic vibrancy and kaleidoscopic dimension of the two artists\u2019 works. Made with different weaves and fiber compositions, the tapestries are the result of the skill and craftsmanship of Rubelli\u2019s designers and technicians, who successfully translated the two artists\u2019 visions into authentic textile artworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For many years, Rubelli has collaborated with Bvlgari on hospitality projects (such as the Bvlgari Hotel in Rome) and store planning, providing both collection and custom fabrics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Polychroma<\/em> project, decidedly complex, offered Rubelli yet another opportunity to engage with the world of art\u2014further expanding its portfolio of \u201cartistic\u201d collaborations, which dates back to the 1930s when it worked with iconic artists such as Gio Ponti, Guido Cadorin, Vittorio Zecchin, and many others.
