Augustus Hotel & Resort reopens Villa Radici in Forte dei Marmi, a project by Discreet Architecture and De.Tales blending Liberty charm with contemporary comfort
In the quiet heart of the pinewood of Forte dei Marmi, Augustus Hotel & Resort celebrates a new chapter with the reopening of Villa Radici. Overlooking the resort’s iconic red driveway, this residence tells the story of a family and an era: built during the same years that Osvaldo Borsani designed Villa Pesenti, Villa Radici embodies the distinctive character of 1930s Versilia architecture.

The name Villa Radici now represents a vision of exclusive hospitality, where historical memory meets modern comfort. Every detail of the restoration highlights this philosophy, reviving the villa’s original spirit with a contemporary perspective.
Restoration and reinterpretation
The project, entrusted to Discreet Architecture in collaboration with the international architecture and design studio De.Tales, focuses on creating harmony between past and present. The interiors enhance the elegance of the Liberty style with a color palette inspired by the surrounding nature: the greens of the pine trees and the blues of the sky and sea. Textured surfaces and decorative details define a coherent visual language, giving each space a distinct character without losing the villa’s historical essence.

The original architectural features – from the wide arches to the generous volumes – coexist with contemporary elements selected to create dialogue with the past. The design approach emphasizes high-quality materials and bespoke finishes, balancing aesthetics with functionality.
Iconic pieces and 20th-century art
Villa Radici showcases a refined mix of design icons and art pieces. Every room features carefully curated objects that narrate the history of Italian and international design. In the main living room, the large table is illuminated by a vintage Barovier e Toso chandelier from the 1930s-40s, an authentic masterpiece of Venetian craftsmanship.

The Quadrifoglio floor lamp by Gae Aulenti for Guzzini adds a modernist touch, while the staircase area is highlighted by a table designed by Vico Magistretti for Cattelan (1980), with its travertine base and glass top acting as a centerpiece. In the suites, the Leggera chair by Gio Ponti for Cassina creates an elegant workspace, blending comfort and style. The atmosphere is further enriched by 20th-century artworks, transforming each space into an immersive narrative.
Tailored interiors
Each suite and common area of Villa Radici has been conceived as a bespoke environment. Discreet Architecture and De.Tales developed custom solutions, integrating made-to-measure furnishings and fine materials such as velvet, woven fabrics, and striped patterns. The attention to detail extends to the careful management of natural light, designed to highlight the spaces and create a warm, enveloping atmosphere.

Spread across two levels, the villa features seven suites offering privacy, generous spaces, and abundant natural light. This approach reflects the philosophy of Augustus Hotel & Resort, which for decades has embodied the concept of “living in a villa” through a model of exclusive, diffused hospitality.
A timeless retreat
From July 2025, Villa Radici will officially welcome its guests. This experience is more than a luxury stay; it is an immersion into a world where architecture, history, and nature exist in perfect balance. Forte dei Marmi gains a new residence that celebrates the beauty of the past, reinterpreted with contemporary elegance and creativity.
