Downtown Mexico: where history and design meet

A design hotel that unveils the beauty of colonial tradition and indigenous culture, offering a bohemian-chic elegance in a unique location.

In the historic center of Mexico City, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Downtown Mexico opens as a member of Design Hotels and a partner of Grupo Habita. An architectural gem dedicated to hospitality, where contemporary design interacts with the grandeur of Mexican colonial architecture.

Downtown Mexico is located in the heart of Mexico City, near the historic pedestrian street Avenida Francisco I. Madero and just a few steps from the Mexico City Cathedral in Plaza de la Constitución, commonly known as Zócalo.

The hotel, set in one of the oldest residences in the city, known as the “Palacio de los Condes de Miravalle,” features seventeen rooms, a suite, a restaurant with a rooftop bar, and a pool. The architectural and interior design project, created by Paul Roco and Cherem-Serrano Arquitectos, celebrates colonial architecture while incorporating the local indigenous culture, harmonizing with the genius loci.

A bohemian-chic elegance characterizes Downtown Mexico. Brick vaulted ceilings, tiled floors, period decorations, wrought iron elements, wooden furnishings, and soft lighting define the hotel. The rooms, understated and essential, feature very simple and minimalist decor to highlight the beauty and charm of the original building, which still retains a distinctive Mexican viceroyal style.
