The 5Vie District is back at Milan Design Week 2019, with a rich program of exhibitions, of the highest quality, entrusted to international curators. In the heart of the Milan-Roman area, the 5Vie is a favourite destination for those seeking design and creativity in its utmost expression.
For 2019, the focus is on Annalisa Rosso, Maria Cristina Didero and Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte, who will be curating three exhibitions of great interest. Annalisa Rosso is the curator of Human Code, unique pieces by Roberto Sironi; Maria Cristina Didero, the first solo show by Lebanese designer Carlo Massoud.
Finally Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte followed the production of 12 pieces by Anton Alvarez, in bronze cast in wax, a milestone in the history of the Fonderia Artistica Battaglia.
Nicole Uniquole‘s Masterly-The Dutch in Milano is back for its fourth edition. Once again this year she has selected Dutch designers, companies, schools and design galleries. This year the main theme of the exhibition will be the 350th anniversary of Rembrandt’s death.
Palazzo Litta hosts The Litta Variations/Opus 5, the fifth edition of the collective exhibition curated by MoscaPartners. Palazzo Litta 2019 hosts twenty-two exhibitors with over 65 international designers. In the Atrium Courtyard the star is Echo, from the studio Pezo von Ellrichshausen, founded in Chile in 2002.
In addition to the exhibitions sponsored by District 5Vie and the collective exhibitions mentioned, a number of permanent showrooms in the area and many recurring exhibitors show at District 5Vie 2019, including Giopato & Coombes with its new lighting collection, or Bitossi Home and Funky Table with their new vase collection.
Still on the subject of lights, Davide Groppi and Apparatus cannot miss a visit, while German designer Markus Benesch opens a hidden carpentry workshop. Australia will also be there with 44 designers in an exhibition curated by Emma Elisabeth, and sculptural lamps by Volker Haug Studio.
Finally, speaking of limited edition, let’s mention the furniture pieces by 06D Atelier, a couple of Italian designers based in London, who take part to the event Wa.Sa.bi, by Big Apple Design. On display are the console + mirror Alter + Ego, by 06D x Azul, which reinvents perspective, the Thinness collection, steel chairs and accessories that defy gravity with their absolute lightness, and the Kayan tables, inspired by the neck rings of Kayan women, also by 06D Atelier x Azul.
