I-MADE, an exhibition curated by Giulio Cappellini at the Saatchi Gallery, debuts at the London Design Festival 2019
Much more than just an exhibition, I-MADE is a platform to celebrate the best design Made in Italy. The world’s best-known design icons will be displayed alongside contemporary products, made by the best Italian brands.

Among the products selected by Giulio Cappellini for this first edition of I-MADE, a collection of objects by the Japanese studio Nendo, and the Thinking Man’s Chair, designed by Jasper Morrison, and discovered in London by Giulio Cappellini himself in 1987. There are also milestones in the history of design, including the Mies armchair by Archizoom for Poltronova, which celebrates its fiftieth anniversary.
Alongside these great classics, there will be products by Living Divani, which celebrates its fiftieth birthday, and Moroso, with sofas by Patricia Urquiola and Johannes Torpe. The lighting will be represented, among others, by Luceplan and Icone Luce, and finally the bathroom area will feature Ceramica Flaminia, with whom Cappellini has been collaborating since 2004.
The design of the chair
A special section of the I-MADE exhibition, held in London during the London Design Festival, is Take a Seat, dedicated to companies which made the history of chair design. Here you can find products by Ceccotti Collezioni, De Padova, Driade, Flexform, Giorgetti, MDF Italia, Molteni&C, Poltrona Frau, Unifor and many others.
I-MADE and e-commerce
Finally, to promote Italian design on a global scale, I-MADE has entered into a partnership with Artemest.com. The portal, which offers a platform to sell furniture online to more than 700 of the best Italian craftsmen and designers, is the official e-commerce partner of the exhibition. [Text Spencer Foil]
