St. Moritz hosts again Nomad Circle, the traveling showcase for collectible design and contemporary art
After the successful Nomad Venice, Nomad St. Moritz will be back from 6 to 9 February 2020. This exhibition offers selected items of collectible design and contemporary artworks at Chesa Planta, an Alpine mansion in the Engadin Valley.
The works on display will range from carpets to experimental manufacturing of some materials. Among hand knotted carpets we will see some special pieces from the Orientations collection by Lebanese design studio David/Nicolas. Moreover, Le Salon, curated by The Invisible Collection, will present pieces by Pierre Yovanovitch, Ron Arad, and Charles Zana, and works by Arab designer Shahad Alazzaz.
Arts & Crafts at Nomad St. Moritz 2020
A large section of the exhibition will be dedicated to artworks and fine craftsmanship. Among them, glass and blown glass vases and sculptures, ceramics, and works in other materials, such as Japanese bamboo basketry from the early 20th century.
The Masters of Italian design
In addition to contemporary design and art, Nomad St. Moritz presents a selection of design pieces by the masters of the 20th century. Galleria Luisa Delle Piane will showcase La tavola degli Elementi, designed by Piero Lissoni for Alpi, a collection of 5 small architectures.Milan-based Galleria Luisa Delle Piane will also present HQB lamps, a project by studio Space Caviar, inspired by the small LEDs displayed at Shenzhen electronics market.Read also Nomad Venice 2019

British brand Established & Sons will exhibit other contemporary design pieces with the LIMITED collection. 12 years after its launch, Established & Sons LIMITED will present the Surface table, ultrathin and lightweight thanks to carbon fiber. The Surface table, designed by Terence Woodgate and John Barnard, is reissued in a limited edition of 25 copies, with the new console table version.Besides the table, Established & Sons LIMITED will showcase pieces by Barber & Osgerby, and “memory chests” by Roy McMakin, limited editions of handmade wooden furniture inspired by artisanal traditions. Last but not least, there will be an installation by Formafantasma.In short, Nomad St. Moritz 2020 will be held from 6 to 9 February at Chesa Planta, St. Moritz, in Engadin, hosting about 30 galleries and special projects. Established in 2016 by Giorgio Pace and Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte, Nomad Circle is a showcase of unique design pieces dedicated to collectors, displayed in traveling exhibitions in exclusive venues. Previous editions took place in Monte Carlo, at Villa La Vigie, Venice, at Palazzo Soranzo Van Axel, and St. Moritz.
