AGC Glass provides windows for the Lakhta Center in St. Petersburg, the tallest skyscraper in Europe, which will be inaugurated by the end of 2020
The Lakhta Center is a 462 m tall skyscraper, the tallest building in Europe and the twelfth in the world. Located in the north-western district of Primorsinky, a booming area of St. Petersburg, the Lakhta Center is going to host the new headquarters of Russian energy company Gazprom. The project, conceived by architect Tony Kettle and carried out by GORPROJECT, is likely to be inaugurated by the end of 2020. It will house offices and numerous public areas dedicated to entertainment, such as a sports center, a planetarium, a conference center, a panoramic restaurant and a 15,000 sqm exhibition space.
Glass provided by AGC Glass Europe is the main star of the Lakhta Center in St. Petersburg
The facade of the Lakhta Center is made of 16,595 double-glazed sheets provided by AGC Glass Europe. Each sheet is made of Ipasol Bright White solar control glass and Stopray Vision-72T tempered selective glass, while Planibel Linea Azzurra glass is applied on the inner side.
AGC Glass Europe windows for well-being inside the buildings
Ipasol Bright White glass, thanks to its low light reflection, is ideal for outdoor applications. Available in different formats and sizes, it can be customized to meet any kind of needs and requirements. The high light transmission and the low solar factor make it a highly selective glass. Glass selectivity is the ability to reject outside thermal radiation without reducing the transparency and the passage of light.
Stopray glass, on the other hand, ensures the maximum level of natural light inside buildings, with minimum heat input. Specifically, Stopray Vision-72T has excellent selectivity and a totally neutral appearance. This model is also particularly versatile: it can be curved or combined with other AGC products to ensure even better performance. Moreover, Ipasol and Stopray glass, thanks to their thermal insulation and solar control, reduce air conditioning and heating costs, improving the energy balance of the building.
Finally, inside the sheet is Panibel Linea Azzurra from the Planibel Clearlite series, a unique float glass. Usually applied in thick glass panels, Panibel Linea Azzurra stands out for its high performance, neutrality and original color, slightly verging on light blue. This kind of glass is ideal for furniture, decorations, partitions and staircases.
