Ordine degli Architetti di Roma will host a webinar on EXPO 2020 Dubai
On Thursday, March 25th, 2021, from 4 pm to 7 pm, Ordine degli Architetti di Roma e provincia (OAR – the Italian Architects Association) will host the webinar Expo 2020 Dubai: talk with Carlo Ratti, JKMM and OOS, who designed the Italian, Finnish and Swiss pavilions. The initiative is part of the Architecture programme of the OAR’s Commissione Cultura Casa Architettura.
October 1st will see the beginning of Expo 2020 Dubai, namely the world’s most important showcase for the best ideas and projects in the fields of engineering, architecture, design, based on innovation and sustainability. These are the themes that will be discussed by the designers of the three pavilions of Expo 2020 Dubai.
Expo Dubai 2020 pavilions are an example of sustainable architecture
The initiative, curated by architect Arianna Callocchia, aims at presenting some of the most significant pavilions of Expo 2020 Dubai, not only in terms of contemporary architecture and design, but also in terms of technological innovation, sustainability, environmental impact. The goal is to promote professional and cultural exchanges between the Italian and international architects invited to present their projects.
From urban planning and architecture to the design of open spaces and urban furnishings up to the interior design of the pavilions, this initiative will explore the details of the various design levels of the pavilions of Expo 2020 through the words of those who have been working on them in recent months.
After the keynote speech by Luca Ribichini, President of the OAR’s Commissione Cultura Casa Architettura, and Paolo Glisenti, Commissioner General for Italy at Expo 2020 Dubai, the conference will go on with an introduction by Marco Pietrosante, ADI – Italian Industrial Design Association. Then, there will be the speeches of the designers of the three pavilions of Expo 2020 Dubai: Carlo Ratti (Carlo Ratti Associati, Turin – New York) for the Italian pavilion, Teemu Kurkela (JKMM Architects Ltd, Helsinki) for the Finnish pavilion, and Christoph Kellenberger (OOS AG, Zurich) for the Swiss pavilion. The round table and the final debate ‘projects and designers compared for EXPO 2020 Dubai’ will be moderated by Francesco Aymonino, OAR’s Commissione Cultura Casa Architettura.
The initiative is organized in collaboration with ATL – Association of Finnish Architects’ Offices and ADI – Italian Industrial Design Association, with the patronage of Dubai Tourism.
