The Design Week continues at the Fabbrica del Vapore with the exhibition FUTURO ANTERIORE. CASVA CABINET OF DESIGN THINKING
The exhibition FUTURO ANTERIORE. CASVA CABINET OF DESIGN THINKING. Affioramenti dagli archivi del progetto di Milano opened for Milan Design Week at the Fabbrica del Vapore and will be running until Sunday, April 28, 2024.
Curated by Giampiero Bosoni, Mariella Brenna (Politecnico di Milano), Maria Fratelli, Francesca Picchi, with the designers Ico Migliore, Andrea Gianni, Enrico Delitala, archive custodian Elisabetta Pernich, featuring a video by Francesco Clerici, the exhibition gives space to the rich CASVA archive, the 20th century design and architecture archive that collects the extraordinary monographs of authors who have designed and revolutionized living strategies from the 20th century to the present.
Its holdings consist of drawings, plans, objects, prototypes, models, binders, tubes, boxes, folders and drawers full of ideas, projects – already completed or still dreams – and they are preserved so that they can be always available to all.
CASVA’s archive has come out of the dungeons of Castello Sforzesco and is going to move to a new home in the QT8 district.
Archives and their charm
The time of archives has one main tense, futuro anteriore (future perfect), as it fixes the temporal anteriority of an event to another future moment. The role of archive curators is to make these archives public and available to all, helping the community understand and interpret them.
