Unspoiled luxury at Relais ALMARANTO in the Monferrato region

At Relais ALMARANTO intelligent design and sustainable tourism for a stay of kind luxury

relais almaranto hotel

Situated in the hills of Monferrato, Relais ALMARANTO was a 17th-century farmhouse that used to be the home of the guardian of the castle of Calamandrana, surrounded by unspoiled greenery. Today, after a recent renovation, the hotel offers four spacious designer suites for those seeking a discreet and charming retreat where they can enjoy luxury experiences in the nature of Piedmont and tasteful wellness stays.

Sustainable tourism at the Relais ALMARANTO hotel

In the Monferrato region, slow tourism has developed in a wise and sustainable way, still offering an unparalleled sense of privacy and intimacy. It is in this lesser-known and wilder area of Piedmont that Alexa Schulte, a German chef and seasoned traveler, has realized her lifelong dream by opening the ALMARANTO Boutique Hotel and Relais, with its 19 rooms and 4 suites, dedicated to good taste, slow travel, and design that respects the surrounding setting.

Intelligent design for modern travelers

The suites at the ALMARANTO Relais tell the story of years of travel around the world, from India to Africa, and feature intelligent design elements without losing the original charm of the structure and local history.

The hotel’s four suites – Almaranto, Terrazza, Giardino and Nocciola – are among the most spacious in the region and are the result of recent renovations, completed in 2021. The interiors feature a clever mix of fine antique furniture found in local markets, designer pieces from Alexa’s private collection, and handcrafted elements designed for each space, such as wooden beds and closets. Geberit modern and elegant bathrooms focus on functionality and comfort, with ceramic or marble tiles, often equipped with whirlpool tubs.

Each suite tells a different story

Those looking for luxury, silence, privacy and space can choose Almaranto suite, which has a 75 sqm living area and a 100 sqm terrace with panoramic views and jacuzzi. The Giardino suite, on the other hand, features a private outdoor space, freestanding bathtub and green velvet elements. The Terrazza suite is on two levels, with a feminine design featuring a 19th-century peacock feather headboard and a 60 sqm terrace. Finally, the Nocciola suite is nestled in the property’s hazel groves and has a private garden. The 4 suites offer views of the surrounding landscape. The Relais ALMARANTO, in fact, does not have a TV. A deliberate choice to suggest an authentic stay in tune with nature, enjoying the silence and unplugging.

High-end comfort and gourmet cuisine

The care and style of the ALMARANTO Relais is also reflected in the hotel’s common areas: from the gym with wooden equipment to the reception area resembling a cozy home lounge, from the Riedel glasses to handmade ceramics of the ADAGIO gourmet restaurant. Smart design also continues in the spaces by the pool of the ANIMA bistro restaurant, where the open air is also breathed indoors, thanks to spaces that become terraces and gardens.
