Dolomiti Wellness Hotel Fanes: from an ancient 16th-century farmstead to a model of contemporary mountain architecture in constant evolution

For generations, the Crazzolara family has welcomed guests to the Dolomiti Wellness Hotel Fanes in refined spaces where comfort and elegance are at the heart of the resort experience. This 5-star resort has undergone constant architectural renovation, representing an example of contemporary mountain architecture, combining modern design and Ladin tradition.

Originally founded in 1560 as a farmhouse, the hotel became a bed and breakfast establishment in 1957 and then, year after year, it developed into a renowned wellness resort. In 1972, in fact, it introduced one of the first wellness areas in South Tyrol, equipped with a sauna, whirlpool, steam bath, and outdoor pool.

An ever-evolving project

Over the years, Dolomiti Wellness Hotel Fanes has continued to enrich itself with architectural projects of great beauty and comfort. Notable milestones include the construction of the Chalets in 2012; the inauguration of the Sky Pool in 2017; the opening of the fine dining restaurant ‘l Murin in 2018; the creation of the Cocoon Suites in 2020; and, finally, the creation of the “Elements” Sauna, an architectural work of art inaugurated in 2022 that rotates on itself, offering breathtaking views of the Alta Badia mountains.

Since 2012, therefore, the hotel has offered spacious and comfortable rooms with independent entrances, providing the right amount of privacy and relaxation. These spaces combine natural elements and designer lamps, which create striking plays of light and shadow. Prominent among the finest details is the pump-shaped bathtub at Chalet Gran Cil, a one-of-a-kind piece made of Lasa marble, with clean lines and fine finishes, lined internally with golden mosaic.

As of 2017, the heart of the hotel is the wellness area, which includes saunas, steam baths, heated pools, and a private spa with pools carved from tree trunks. The 25-meter-long, heated infinity pool reserved for adults offers 360-degree panoramic views of the Dolomites.

‘l Murin restaurant: where cuisine meets sophistication

In 2018, ‘l Murin restaurant opened in the oldest part of the hotel. There, Chef Samuele Vegher delights guests with creative dishes served in a cozy setting enhanced by exposed wooden beams, natural stone, and rustic-style furnishings that recall the typical architecture of mountain lodges.

The Cocoon suites: relaxing spaces in contact with nature

While, from 2020, Cocoon suites has offered luxurious and private environments designed for total relaxation. Furnished with natural and sustainable materials such as stone pine wood and white Lasa marble, these suites guarantee an intimate and rejuvenating experience.

Elements: the revolving sauna for psycho-physical well-being

Finally, in 2022, the Crazzolara family opened the Elements sauna, inspired by the five elements of nature: earth, air, water, fire, and ether. With its cylindrical shape, large glass window and height of 9 meters, this sauna offers a unique experience, rotating on itself and giving a spectacular view of the Dolomites. An innovative project that earned architect Barbara Widmann the prestigious DNA Paris Design Award 2023.

These milestones are only a part of the long evolutionary journey of the Dolomiti Wellness Hotel Fanes, which continues to innovate itself to offer a luxurious and charming experience. The latest innovation is the modernization of a historic wing of the building, with the creation of Suites and Family Suites ideal for group vacations, where each guest can find privacy and complete relaxation.
