Distinctive projects awarded for originality, sustainability and social impact at 64th Genoa International Boat Show
Unveiled on the evening of Friday, Sept. 20, at the charming Palazzo della Borsa in the heart of Genoa Liberty, the winners of the fifth edition of the Design Innovation Award celebrated excellence in the nautical industry. Created in 2020 thanks to Confindustria Nautica and I Saloni Nautici, this prestigious award aims to recognize the best examples of research, innovation and sustainability in the sector. In just a few years, it has become a major international event, exalting the most innovative products presented at the Genoa Boat Show that reflect the latest trends and new frontiers in design.
The ceremony, conducted by architect and journalist Silvia Botti, featured speeches by Genoa Mayor Marco Bucci and Chamber of Commerce Board member Paolo Corsiglia. Saverio Cecchi, president of Confindustria Nautica, and Andrea Razeto, president of I Saloni Nautici, kicked off the awards ceremony.
Maria Porro, president of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, led the jury of experts from various sectors for the second time, strengthening the link between the furniture and nautical worlds. The latter reviewed nearly 100 submissions, exceeding all expectations, and demonstrating the vibrancy of an ever-evolving sector.
Jury members include Andrea Ratti, Executive Director of the Master in Yacht Design at Politecnico di Milano; Andrana Monk, founder of Monk Design; Carlo Cameli, President of the Yacht Club Italiano; Franco Michienzi, Editor-in-Chief of Barche; Nabil Farhat, Director of The World of Yacht; Robin Edman, former President of the Bureau of European Design Associations; and Luisa Bocchietto, architect and designer.
Ten categories were awarded, as well as special awards for Innovation and Career, dedicated to particularly original, sustainable projects with a strong social impact.
