FAR Festival dell'Architettura di Roma 2025

Rome Architecture Festival 2025 rewrites the city: ideas, itineraries, and future visions

From June 20 to 25, the seventh edition of the Festival promoted by the Order of Architects of Rome explores the social role of architecture through exhibitions, talks, urban routes, and temporary installations

The Rome Architecture Festival (FAR), conceived and promoted by the Order of Architects of Rome and its province, returns to the Italian capital for its seventh edition, taking place from June 20 to 25, 2025. Set in the evocative spaces of the Casa dell’Architettura and the Acquario Romano, the Festival offers an immersive program of talks, exhibitions, lectures, installations, films, and music. This year, FAR expands its reach by including influencers, podcasters, and content creators, opening up to new forms of communication and narration while reaffirming the civic value of architecture.

International voices and a Global outlook

FAR 2025 welcomes internationally renowned architects such as Tatiana Bilbao (Mexico), Giancarlo Mazzanti (Colombia), Amelia Tavella (Corsica), and Ulisses Studio (Spain), who will take part in keynote lectures. These voices will engage with Rome’s architectural scene in a temporal dialogue between past, present, and future. Italian and Roman architects will also animate the debate with reflections on the contemporary architectural landscape.

Architecture on the move: urban itineraries of the Rome Architecture Festival 2025

Mornings at the Festival will be dedicated to curated Architectural Itineraries, including iconic and lesser-known Roman sites—from the Appian Way to via del Pellegrino, from Esquilino District to Termini Station, with a focus on hostile architecture and national-scale urban policy. A special photographic itinerary will explore Roman homes and urban atmospheres through meaningful images.

MATCH! and Creative Collaborations

Back by popular demand, MATCH, Design!, curated by Alessandro Gorla and Paolo Casicci, brings designers and critics face-to-face in engaging conversations on materials and the experience of living. FAR also strengthens its network with dynamic cultural and local partners such as Scomodo, Roma Diffusa, Ottavo Colle, and Urban Experience, creating valuable connections across the city.

Architecture beyond words: Cinema, Photography, and Installations

Architecture becomes narrative through film screenings and photo exhibitions, offering new perspectives on the built environment. Noteworthy screenings include “Mies van der Rohe: The Lines of Life”, “The House of Cini Boeri”, and a special talk with director Gabriele Mainetti on “The Forbidden City”. Photography plays a key role as well, with Ernesta Caviola’s exhibition Vulnerabilità Analogica. Spazio Corpi Figure. Vulnerabilità Analogica. Spazio Corpi Figure curated by Ernesta Caviola, while an entire section explores the role of temporary installations through the winning project of the public call, Edicola, by the studio AUT AUT Architettura.

Public space as a laboratory of ideas

The Festival continues to experiment with participatory and design practices through workshops in Rome’s IV and V Municipalities, launched via a free call for the creation of temporary installations. A new feature of the 2025 edition is Breakfasts with the Architect (8:00–11:00 AM), which combine convivial moments and open dialogue with architects and designers in some of the city’s most symbolic locations.

Rome Architecture Festival 2025: an opportunity to reactivate the connection between architecture and citizens

“Once again, the Rome Architecture Festival is not only about architecture as a project,” explains Alice Buzzone, FAR Director and board member of the Order of Architects of Rome, “but also as a process connected to the territory. Through partnerships, calls, and participation, we aim to highlight the transformative power of architecture—concrete actions, not abstract theories, directed toward the public, our real clients. It’s about reconnecting architects with society and reaffirming the crucial social role of architecture in our everyday urban lives.”

All FAR 2025 events are free and open to the public, subject to availability.
