Ceramics on Stage: Andloviz, Biancini and Campi Between Art and Design

Andloviz, Biancini and Campi on display at Villa Della Porta Bozzolo (Casalzuigno, VA) until October 5, 2025

FAI – Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano celebrates Italian ceramic art with two unmissable events. From September 17 to October 5, 2025, Villa Della Porta Bozzolo in Casalzuigno (VA) hosts the exhibition “Andloviz, Biancini, Campi: The ABC of the Società Ceramica Italiana”, realized in collaboration with the cultural association “Amici del MIDeC – International Museum of Ceramic Design” in Laveno Mombello. The exhibition highlights the golden era of the Società Ceramica Italiana (SCI), between the 1920s and 1960s, when architects and artists elevated the Laveno manufactory to compete with Gio Ponti and Richard Ginori.

Everyday Objects Become Design Masterpieces

For the first time, the exhibition brings together tableware, vases, candelabra, tea and coffee sets, and sculptures designed by Guido Andloviz, Angelo Biancini, and Antonia Campi. Each piece transforms everyday objects into works of art, harmoniously interacting with the Villa’s historic interiors. A special tribute goes to Marco Costantini, historic engraver at SCI and founder of Bottega Costantini, awarded the Guido Andloviz Mention as part of the MIDeC 2025 Prize for contemporary ceramics.

CERAMICA: Market, Workshops, and Live Demonstrations

On October 4 and 5, 2025, Villa Della Porta Bozzolo hosts the first edition of CERAMICA, an event devoted to ceramic design and craftsmanship. Artisans, artists, and collectors present contemporary creations alongside antiques. A café brocante will be set up in the courtyard and restaurant spaces, featuring vintage porcelain, sweets, teas, and seasonal appetizers. Demonstrations of wheel-throwing, finishing, and glazing techniques, together with hands-on workshops for adults and children, offer an immersive experience in Italian ceramic art.

A Journey Through Historical and Contemporary Collections

Guided tours allow visitors to explore Villa Della Porta Bozzolo’s ceramic heritage, including the extraordinary collection of Mino Baldissera teapots, comprising 208 pieces spanning two centuries of Italian and European taste. From French productions by Sèvres, Limoges, and Gien to Ginori ceramics, each piece provides a unique historical snapshot—from Neo-Gothic to Rococo styles, up to the Napoléon III period.

Tours take place at 11:00, 12:30, and 15:30; the 11:00 session on Saturday will be guided by Fabio Carnaghi, curator of the temporary exhibition.
