Fashion on stage: Giorgio Armani between art and Milan

At the Pinacoteca di Brera, an exhibition celebrates fifty years of creativity

From September 24, 2025, to January 11, 2026, the Pinacoteca di Brera hosts a unique exhibition dedicated to the work of Giorgio Armani. The show brings together more than one hundred and twenty creations that engage in dialogue with masterpieces from the permanent collection, weaving together the history of art and the history of fashion.

Milan and Brera, a deep bond

Armani has always recognized Brera as his ideal dimension: elegant, vibrant, and free. He chose to live and work in this neighborhood, inspired by its dual spirit of culture and vitality. In 1993, the Academy of Fine Arts awarded him an academic title for the consistency and rigor of his stylistic research. Today, the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan celebrates that bond by welcoming fashion into its historic halls for the first time.

Fashion as art

The exhibition presents creations from ARMANI/Archive, the maison’s memory bank. These garments narrate fifty years of stylistic evolution, redefining sobriety through refined details, precious fabrics, and unexpected finishes. Fashion becomes decorative art, confronting paintings from the Middle Ages to the nineteenth century, creating a new and surprising dialogue.

A story told through images

Invisible mannequins allow the garments to evoke bodies and movements, transforming the halls of the Pinacoteca into a narrative journey. Each creation reveals a fragment of Giorgio Armani’s vision: reinterpreted tailoring, neutral colors that vibrate with intensity, embroidery and craftsmanship that embody a creativity both rigorous and unmistakable.
