The new Al Ghurair Collection redefines the concept of luxury living with Wedyan, the first project by Kengo Kuma in the United Arab Emirates
Al Ghurair Collection is the new luxury residential portfolio developed by Al Ghurair Development, dedicated to iconic homes in highly prestigious locations. With a legacy that has helped shape Dubai’s skyline, the group introduces a project that goes beyond traditional living, blending signature architecture, well-being, and craftsmanship.
The debut comes with Wedyan, a super-prime development overlooking the Dubai Canal and designed by Kengo Kuma in his first intervention in the UAE.
Wedyan: Kengo Kuma’s Language Meets the Desert
The name Wedyan, meaning “valleys,” reveals the essence of the project. Kuma designs a façade inspired by the natural movement of water and sand, with a layered profile recalling the rhythm of the desert landscape.
This refined dialogue between architecture and nature defines the identity of a building destined to become a new benchmark for residential luxury in Dubai. The same sensibility behind iconic works such as the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo and the Folk Art Museum in China here takes on a new interpretation shaped around the Emirati context.
A Collective Design of Architecture, Landscape and Well-Being
To bring Al Ghurair Collection’s vision to life, the project involved over 30 specialists across key disciplines including lighting, façades, kitchens, parking systems and wellness.
The landscape, curated by Gustafson Porter + Bowman, transforms the building into a vertical ecosystem: green terraces, shaded pathways, suspended gardens and water features unfold across different levels, ensuring privacy and environmental quality. Plant species include aloe vera, Bismarck palm and climbing varieties suited to Dubai’s climate.
6,000 sqm Dedicated to Contemporary Living
Wedyan offers over 6,000 sqm of recreational spaces distributed across multiple levels:
- The Oasis on the ground floor, wrapped in vegetation and water
- The Shore and The Valley, dedicated to leisure and social life
- The Cave, a wellness retreat on the 17th floor
- The Mountain, a private meeting space on the 36th floor
Additional amenities include private treatments, a Pilates studio, podcast room, boxing studio, and an advanced filtration system for air and water throughout the building.
