Milano Design Week 2026: Superstudio Redesigns the City with a New Design Map

A distributed concept across Tortona, Barona, and Bovisa presents three visions — SuperNova, SuperCity, and SuperPlayground — to narrate the evolution of international design through research, emerging talent, and large immersive installations

Superstudio presents WE MAKE IT SUPER, a project that expands its presence across three Milan districts — Tortona, Barona, and Bovisa — for a total of 30,000 m². It introduces a new thematic map defining the identity of the 2026 edition through three distinct formats: SuperNova, SuperCity, and SuperPlayground.

SuperNova: The Return of Moooi and Marcel Wanders’ Major Installation

Superstudio Più becomes the vibrant heart of SuperNova, the space where leading international design players converge. The year 2026 marks the return of Moooi, presenting a new immersive installation by Marcel Wanders, created inside the Central Point space of nearly 1,000 m².

Twenty-five years after its debut in Milan, Moooi introduces a concept that reinterprets its iconic pieces and opens a new phase of experimentation, with reimagined forms, brilliant materials, and an essential scenography focused on emotion. In addition to the special project, independent pavilions by international brands and bespoke installations animate both the indoor and outdoor spaces of Superstudio Più.

SuperCity: An Ideal City Between Design, Art, and Architecture

At Superstudio Maxi, SuperCity takes shape: a collective project envisioning a future city where design, art, and architecture intertwine in a landscape with almost cinematic atmospheres. At the center, an installation by Giulio Cappellini invites visitors to explore evolving urban scenarios created in collaboration with leading industry brands.

Part of the project is dedicated to top international academies and universities, offering an overview of the most urgent themes in contemporary design. The collaboration with ICFF – International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York continues, with a focus on the role of education.

SuperPlayground: A Village for Emerging Creativity

For the first time, Superstudio opens Superstudio Village in the Bovisa district. Here, SuperPlayground comes to life — a program dedicated to young designers, emerging studios, and creative collectives. Through an international Open Call, Superstudio provides flexible exhibition spaces to selected talents, offering real support to new generations and bringing back the original spirit of the Fuorisalone: free research, experimentation, and new narratives.

A Project for the City and the Future of Design

Superstudio Design 2026 multiplies spaces and expands research directions: the dialogue with global leaders, the enhancement of schools and emerging experimentation, and the development of new creative districts.
The goal is to create a new model for Milano Design Week 2026 — one that combines vision, quality, and openness. An ecosystem that grows alongside Milan and strengthens its role on the international stage.

A Simpler and More Connected Experience

To improve event accessibility, Superstudio introduces a unified registration system: a single QR Code allowing entry to all three venues. In parallel, a dedicated transfer service between Tortona, Barona, and Bovisa is being studied, with the aim of providing a smoother, more people-oriented experience during Milano Design Week 2026.
