Basket of Light: Design Takes the Court with Franck Genser

A lamp for basketball enthusiasts that transforms a sporting gesture into a sculptural work, balancing precision and play

Contemporary design thrives on challenging the boundaries between function and art. With his latest creation, Franck Genser successfully captures the energy of movement, freezing it in time. Basketball is not merely a lighting object, but an architectural tribute to one of the world’s most iconic sporting symbols.

 Lamp for basketball lovers

An Aesthetic Suspended Between Play and Rigor

Genser reinterprets the classic hoop through a clean, sophisticated formal language. The structure mounts to the wall like a suspended moment: a black metal ring supports a fine metallic mesh that delicately cradles a luminous globe.

This lamp for basketball lovers creates a magnetic contrast between the strength of the metal and the softness of the light. The globe appears captured in the middle of a decisive shot, generating a play of shadows and reflections that fills the space with elegance.

Industrial Materials and Poetic Soul

The project explores themes dear to the French designer: balance, gravity, and material contrast. Genser reduces industrial elements to their essence to elevate them into an art form. The composition is simultaneously graphic and poetic.

More than a simple sporting reference, this basketball-inspired lamp becomes an abstraction of movement. The diffused light invites surprise and pause, transforming a hallway or a living area into a private gallery.

From the Miami Debut to International Spaces

Recently presented at Alcova Miami, the work immediately caught the attention of curators and collectors. Its sculptural presence and conceptual clarity place it perfectly within the realm of collectible design.

Suitable for both private residences and high-profile contract projects, this basketball enthusiast’s lamp serves as a focal point in any environment. Following its success in Florida, the piece remains available for gallery exhibitions and interior projects seeking an element capable of sparking conversation.
