Lavazza coffee machines: Italian design in the world
The Italian brand synonymous with coffee worldwide, Lavazza, not only keeps the flag of our favorite beverage flying, but also stands out for the design quality of its coffee machines, awarded with the most prestigious international awards.
The Lavazza Design Innovation Center designs all coffee machines, for domestic and professional use, for offices and bars. The projects by the Lavazza Innovation Center are not limited to machines since Lavazza also offers vending machines and tableware, besides designing accessories and packaging.
Several Lavazza coffee machines, designed by the Lavazza Innovation Center – in some cases with the collaboration of external designers –, have won international awards such as the Red Dot Design Award, the iF Design Award and the German Design Award. The style of Lavazza coffee machines is essential and playful, with simple formal elements that enhance materials, finishes and colors. The identity of its products reflects the essence of Italian style, of which Lavazza is an ambassador around the world, and expresses a refined, elegant and always cutting-edge design.

Jolie, a machine with a rounded and compact design
The Jolie espresso machine, designed by Altromodo Studio and Florian Seidl, Lavazza design manager, has a matte black body contrasting with the colored front shell. Awarded with the Red Dot Award and the German Design Award, Jolie’s shape recalls traditional elements of Italian coffee culture. It is also very easy to use, thanks to its clearly visible button. In the picture below, we can see it with MilkUp, designed by Florian Seidl, the machine for making cappuccinos and hot drinks as easily as coffee. Also MilkUp won the Red Dot Design award, thanks to its intuitive use and playful and colorful design
Also Idola, another project by Florian Seidl, has won two prestigious awards, the Red Dot Award and the iF Design Award. It features a one-piece outer shell, minimizing joint lines. Moreover, it is extremely quiet.
Lavazza and Smeg: the time machine
