Parquet 4.0: technology that decorates

A flooring material that is always in vogue is parquet. Wooden floors have aesthetic, sound, elasticity and warmth requirements that make them unique. Today, thanks to new technologies, prefinished parquet is easier to install and can feature unprecedented effects, such as a worn effect on new floors. It is also possible to have irregular patterns that can be repeated endlessly, thanks to new cutting and installation techniques. But also countless surface decorations, thanks to laser. Finally, contemporary parquet almost always features an antibacterial finish that makes surfaces more hygienic.

Textile effect on wooden floors

Fabrique, from Listone Giordano’s Natural Genius project, is a parquet designed by Marc Sadler with innovative surface treatments. The starting point for the collection is Listone Giordano Multilayer, a 1984 patent, with cross-fiber layers that make the parquet non-deformable. Moreover, it is made of birch plywood from sustainable forest management. Fabrique parquet interprets the structural characteristics of birch plywood and creates a surface that has the effect of a wooden fabric. The collection is available in six colors: Fumée Noir, Graphite, Ciment, Argile, Tabac, Corde. The surface finish, Oleonature, is based on natural oils, and comes with Crystalcare antibacterial treatment.

Prefinished industrial parquet with vintage effect

Corà proposes Fabbrica 4.0, the industrial prefinished floor that is easy to lay. Its surface is treated with a matt-effect acrylic varnish and with a transparent antibacterial coating with silver ions. The parquet, brushed and micro-beveled on all four sides, has an uneven surface to the touch, which adds to the worn effect. Despite being produced with contemporary criteria, in order to make it suitable for a ready-to-lay floor, Fabbrica 4.0 retains the charm of the old industrial floors with large boards.

Laser-engraved decoration

Inkiostro Bianco, a company specializing in wallpapers and vinyl surfaces, has created a technological parquet that offers a sustainable floor. The base of this parquet is the multilayer plank by Listone Giordano, which guarantees the control of the raw material, thanks to the sustainable management of the French forests from which wood is harvested. Inkiostro Bianco’s parquet respects the material’s sustainability as it relies only on laser engraving for decorations, not on chemicals.

The prefinished parquet of the Undici collections by Inkiostro Bianco combines contemporary design and tradition, where geometries and decorations intertwine on the wooden surface, making it “alive”. Laser engravings create different color shades and infinite patterns. The Undici collection by Inkiostro Bianco can be installed on floors, walls and accessories for a real total look, thanks to the resistance and stability of the material. For even more exclusive projects, Inkiostro Bianco has developed Touché, a collection of engraved woods that can be totally customized, not only in terms of graphics or colors, but also in terms of size and installation.

Parquet and matching surfaces by Kerakoll

Kerakoll Design House is a project dedicated to interior design, developed by Kerakoll with Piero Lissoni’s art direction. Kerakoll Design House, which has been in production for a few years now, combines surfaces in different materials with an exclusive shared color palette, Warm Collection. For floors, the Kerakoll Design House collection includes Legno+Color, parquet floors inspired by traditional wood floors. Legno+Color floors are made exclusively from Slavonian oak or Quercus Robur, a material that provides stability, strength and adapts well to changes in humidity.

Industrial prefinished parquet that seems handmade

Each board is unique, thanks to a special finish obtained with handmade sanding, sawing and semi-planing. Planks are available in three sizes, colored and protected in situ with next-generation parquet microresin. The final effect changes depending on the desired laying pattern and board size. Legno+Color parquet is available in three formats – Large, Medium, Small – which are different not only in size but also in the processing and final effect. The texture is common to all three formats, recalling old parquet floors sanded by time, characterized by an uneven surface.

The Legno+Color Large format is a continuous 3-layer surface, with chamfered sides and clean-cut ends, in a 70×1250 mm format, inspired by old SoHo buildings, New York. Juxtaposed planks give the impression of a continuous, soft and silky surface.

The planks of the Legno+Color Medium format consist of 3 layers of solid wood with chamfered edges and ends. Their 50×400 mm size allow for many traditional laying patterns – straight, staggered, brick bond and diagonal laying geometries – also for small rooms.

Finally, Legno+Color Small has the same characteristics as Legno+Color Medium and a smaller format, 42×300 mm, that makes it possible to create traditional laying patterns such as herringbone, staggered and diagonal laying geometries, also in very small spaces.

Total look with formats that decorate

Oscar Ono is a French brand that produces high-quality handmade parquet floors. The Forêt collection, designed by Raphael Navot, is inspired by the cobblestones of 19th-century Paris streets. To facilitate the installation of even complex designs, the parquet is made up of pre-assembled planks that reproduce 6 different irregular laying patterns. The 3 available finishes, Natural, Smoke and Burnt, are entirely natural and do not use any chemical coloring. Surface treatments create different color shades for different moods.
