The iconic Berlin hotel reopens after an 8,800 sqm redesign by studio aisslinger, featuring immersive storytelling, iconic suites, and reinvented public spaces
The 25hours Hotel Bikini Berlin reopened in July 2025, eleven years after its first opening, following a redesign by studio aisslinger, the same studio behind the original concept. This transformation goes far beyond a standard renovation, aiming to reactivate key areas and enhance the hotel’s creative and unconventional identity, solidifying its status as a cult destination in Berlin and internationally.

Located next to the Tiergarten, the hotel remains a hotspot for visitors, with the famous Monkey Bar and NENI restaurant on the 10th floor, confirming the timeless appeal of aisslinger’s concept.
The Concept: Urban Jungle Between City and Nature
The new design balances urban lifestyle with lush nature, inspired by its proximity to Berlin Zoo and the Tiergarten. Studio aisslinger’s Urban Jungle philosophy conveys culture, sustainability, and Berlin’s subcultural spirit across public areas, themed suites, and the rooftop bar.

The concept blends immersive storytelling with innovative design solutions, transforming every corner of the hotel into a flexible, unique experience while respecting Bikini Berlin’s original identity.
Suites: Bold Design and Immersive Comfort
All 24 suites have been completely redesigned by studio aisslinger, with beds placed at the center of the room, offering uninterrupted views of either the Tiergarten or City West. Open-plan layouts ensure fluidity and continuity throughout each space.
A distinctive feature is the Conversation Pit, a wooden library capsule designed for reading and relaxation, combining analog design and contemporary comfort.

The newly designed bathrooms are open and filled with natural light, with warm-toned integrated lighting and updated tiles. Bathtubs now also function as Bluetooth speakers. In a pioneering collaboration with Kaldewei, the hotel introduced an upcycling initiative, refining and reinstalling original bathtubs and shower trays with technical and visual improvements.
Public Spaces: Flexibility and Creativity
The redesign redefines communal areas: Nomad Bar transforms from a daytime bakery to a lively aperitivo bar with rotating shelves. Brick Lounge, with hand-laid brick walls, serves as a coworking and reading space. Rattan Jungle, overlooking the zoo, offers sculptural seating and hammock zones immersed in greenery. Bikini Lounge, designed with MOROSO, creates a flexible sofa landscape for work, relaxation, or social interaction.

Materials and Furnishings: Contrasts and Collaborations
The interventions highlight the contrast between the building’s raw architecture and the newly added cozy zones, using innovative JAB textiles, natural brick, upcycled cork, rattan, and mirrored surfaces. Collaborations with MOROSO and unique studio aisslinger objects, such as a four-meter-long kilim-light fixture, strengthen the hotel’s immersive design narrative.
