A restyling that blends contemporary architecture and unspoiled nature in the unique setting of Val d’Ayas
Nestled in the heart of the Val d’Ayas, the refined boutique resort Aethos Monterosa is getting ready for its winter reopening in December 2025. With a major architectural and interior design update, the resort aims to redefine the concept of alpine luxury by seamlessly integrating tradition, modern aesthetics, and nature.

A new wing by Studio Astet: the alpine chalet goes contemporary
At the center of the transformation is a brand-new hotel wing housing 23 new suites, designed by Studio Astet in Barcelona. The concept draws direct inspiration from the natural surroundings of the Aosta Valley, translating the contrasting textures and colors of the alpine landscape into a modern design language.
Wood, local stone, steel finishes, and geometric details shape interiors that fuse the warmth of mountain tradition with the elegance of contemporary minimalism. Studio Astet’s design approach enhances the character of the place, bringing a sense of refined authenticity to the resort—perfectly in line with the Aethos brand philosophy.

Natural materials and emotional design for a sensory experience
Each suite is envisioned as an immersive space where design, comfort, and nature harmoniously converge. Materials and textures take center stage: brushed wood flooring, rough stone walls, soft textiles, and earthy color palettes evoke the forest, rock, and snow-covered peaks.
The result is a full sensory experience, not just a place to stay. Aethos Monterosa offers a new take on alpine hospitality, rooted in place and elevated by a design aesthetic that’s both international and deeply respectful of its context.

Landscape design: a new pool with mountain views
The update extends beyond interiors. The outdoor garden area has been redesigned to include a new panoramic heated pool, seamlessly integrated into the landscape with unobstructed views of the Monte Rosa massif.
This new open-air wellness zone complements the resort’s existing alpine spa, which features a wood-fired sauna, Turkish bath, whirlpool tubs, and a 25-meter indoor pool. Here, wellness becomes an extension of the resort’s design philosophy, offering guests a deep connection with nature and self.

A year-round retreat for design lovers, nature seekers, and sport enthusiasts
With 53 rooms in total, including new family and deluxe suites, Aethos Monterosa positions itself as a year-round mountain refuge. In winter, it’s a haven for skiers and snow lovers; in summer, it becomes a peaceful base for hiking, cycling, and relaxing under the alpine sun.
This renovation reflects a clear vision: to create a space that celebrates the mountains without overpowering them, through sustainable architecture and thoughtful design. Aethos Monterosa becomes not just a destination, but a cultural and aesthetic experience.

When luxury means authenticity
Aethos Monterosa is more than a hotel—it’s a statement of contemporary alpine design. The collaboration with Studio Astet and the brand’s commitment to quality hospitality offer a shining example of how architecture can create meaningful, place-conscious experiences in the hospitality sector.
