“CASA RDG”: AN IMPRESSIVE CHALET BY OIKOS ON MONT BLANC

The multi-family chalet designed by Studio Oikos in Chamonix combines stone and wood, interiors and exteriors, giving a contemporary take on traditional Alpine homes

Oikos, a renowned Milan-based architecture studio, has designed Casa RDG: a striking multi-family chalet in perfect harmony with the breathtaking panorama offered by Mont Blanc, which, with its traditional mountain architectural style, recalls old Haute-Savoie farmhouses. The house is decorated with old untreated solid wood from exterior to interior walls, from floor to furniture, which perfectly harmonizes with granite details and two large fireplaces. Wood and stone are combined in every room, including the bathroom, which features Vero countertop washbasins by Duravit that perfectly integrate in this space. The lower ground floor and the large glass façades of the living room draw the surrounding natural environment into the house almost blurring the boundaries between inside and outside. Naturalness and essentiality blend with the modern design of drop chandeliers and stainless-steel elements in the kitchen.
