Superdesign Show: “the heart” of zona Tortona
Superdesign Show, new version of the Temporary Museum for New Design, split between Superstudio Più and Superstudio 13, is back also at Fuorisalone 2019, close to celebrate its twentieth anniversary. The 2018 edition attracted over 100,000 visitors and more than 2,000 accredited journalists, with 13,000 square metres of exhibition space.
The first edition of Superdesign Show, which dates back to 2000, has preserved the authors, Gisella Borioli as curator and Giulio Cappellini as art director, and the same spirit of research and innovation permeating the exhibitions at Superstudio, where big brands, designers and niche companies find their place.
Exhibitors: the electronics of the future
The Korean brand LG Electronics takes advantage of the Milan Design Week 2019 to showcase the world the first OLED television made up only of a thin screen which can be rolled up. In a room designed by Foster + Partners, “Redefine your space”, the new TV that rolls and unrolls as needed, opens up unexpected scenarios in the home.
Superhotel, the international hotel with a Mediterranean flair
This year Giulio Cappellini launches Superhotel, an international hotel with deep Italian roots, which mixes industrial products and high craftsmanship. Different types of suites, a restaurant that tells the story of the world’s cuisines, a large lounge and a gym tell a different idea of hotel, where technology and products intersect in an absolutely natural and contemporary way.
Some of the best design brands participate in Superhotel: Boffi, Caimi Brevetti, Cappellini, cc-tapis, De Padova, Driade, Fazzini, Flaminia, Gobbetto, Icone Luce, MDF Italia, Megius, Poltrona Frau, Sicis, Technogym.
Exhibitors: Normann Copenhagen turns 20
Danish brand Normann Copenhagen celebrates its 20th anniversary with an exhibition inspired by the gardens of Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle-Marx. Sinuous paths lead through eight different theme islands, from an area enlightened by bright neon light and studded with flowers on soft, dreamy tones captured in the reflections of the mirrors, to a seductive explosion of corals; the brand has involved ten international artists in a new collection that blends art and design.
International collective shows
The annual exhibition Indonesian Superstudio Contemporary Art and Design by Artura, showcasing the best artists from Indonesia to promote their local knowledge and craftsmanship in a contemporary context, is backe to Superstudio. In the exhibition “Essential Jakarta“, promoted by the Government of Jakarta, each area of the petals of the Kembang Goyang (“dancing flower”) is an interactive universe to discover the dynamic and vibrant culture of the native Batavo people.
