Women and contemporary architecture in Denmark: an online conference promoted by the Chamber of Architects of the Province of Milan

The Contribution of Women in Contemporary Architecture: The Danish Example is the new event belonging to the cycle of conferences dedicated to the contribution of women in contemporary international architecture. The webinar is organized by the Chamber of Architects of the Province of Milan and will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. For this series of conferences on contemporary women’s architecture, three evenings have been already dedicated to Switzerland, Finland, and the United Kingdom.

The initiative, promoted by the Foundation of the Chamber of Architects of the Province of Milan, curated by architect Arianna Callocchia, wants to highlight the role of women in contemporary architecture, creating an opportunity for professional exchange between Italian and international realities.

As we have said, The Contribution of Women in Contemporary Architecture: The Danish Example will be held on February 18. During the evening, the architects will illustrate the works that they have recently completed in Denmark, presenting their approach and their design philosophy in contemporary architecture as to environmental sustainability, the social sphere, technological innovation, building redevelopment, the relationship with the historical, cultural and urban context in which we live.

Women in Danish architecture: Eva Ravnborg and Lone Wiggers

After the keynote speech by Marialisa Santi, Councilor of the Chamber and of the Foundation of the Chamber of Architects of the Province of Milan, and Anders Carsten Damsgaard, Danish Ambassador to Italy, the conference will go on with speeches by Eva Ravnborg, Henning Larsen Architects (Copenhagen), and Lone Wiggers, C.F. Møller Architects (Copenhagen).

Eva Ravnborg will talk about the school of the future and how to take learning out of the classroom, focusing her speech on the project of the Frederiksbjerg School. Lone Wiggers will illustrate a selection of projects with a meaningful relationship between places and people. The meeting will be moderated by Annalisa Metta, landscape architect, Roma Tre University.

The conference forms part of “I talenti delle donne”, a series of events organized by the Municipality of Milan, and is promoted by the Chamber of Architects of the Province of Milan, the Italian Council of Architects, the Embassy of Denmark to Italy, DAC – Danish Architecture Center/Dansk Arkitektur Center and VisitDenmark.
