Gufram launches Punch a Wall, an innovative limited edition of 333 pieces by Studio Job, reshaping the vision of contemporary design.
Gufram presents Punch a Wall, an exclusive creation by Studio Job, one of the most provocative forces in international design. This original “punching bag” now comes in an elegant limited edition of 333 pieces, offering an irreverent and unique vision. Punch a Wall draws inspiration from the aesthetics of 1970s Italian radical design, subverting visual and tactile expectations.
From Exhibition to Masterpiece
The piece, which debuted in 2017 at the SuperGufram exhibition during Design Miami/Basel, explores and transforms the boundary between industrial design and contemporary art. The collaboration between Gufram—already known for its experimental approach—and designer Job Smeets takes radical design to a new level, pushing the limits of traditional design.
An illusion between perception and reality
With Punch a Wall, Studio Job explores the dichotomy between soft and hard, dream and reality. The piece appears as an orange brick column—a sculpture that seems solid yet invites touch, surprising with its soft polyurethane foam texture. This visual tension encourages interaction, transporting viewers into a surreal world where art and architecture merge.
Craftsmanship and Innovative Technology
Each Punch a Wall piece is crafted from polyurethane foam and then finished with Guflac® Ultra, the latest evolution of Gufram’s exclusive Guflac® coating, designed for durability and resilience. The hand-applied Guflac® Ultra allows the polyurethane to retain its softness, unlocking new possibilities for aesthetic experimentation.
