ZZZN Sleep Apparel is a new system that integrates biometric data to optimize short sleep
Konel Inc, NTT DX Partner Inc., and SOXAI Inc. have jointly developed the Zzzn Sleep Apparel System, a new concept in wearable rest technology, as part of Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) pilot program aimed at expanding Personal Health Record (PHR) use cases. The initiative, titled FY2023 Supplementary Project for Accelerating the Implementation of PHR, focuses on building practical models for PHR utilization. First unveiled to the public in Harajuku, Tokyo in February 2025, ZZZN gained significant attention both domestically and internationally.

Concept and Purpose
As Japan faces declining birthrates and an aging population, PHR-driven solutions are gaining momentum in healthcare, particularly in preventive care and wellness. Leveraging this societal shift, METI launched the “PHR CYCLE” platform to enable seamless data exchange between PHR providers and service operators. ZZZN represents one of the new service models created through this effort and will also be exhibited at the Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025. In today’s hyper-connected society, where we are always online, the time we spend truly offline—both mentally and physically is rapidly shrinking. ZZZN SLEEP APPAREL SYSTEM introduces a new approach to rest: disconnect to recover. Designed to detect and promote optimal nap timing using real-time PHR data, ZZZN helps individuals to return naturally to health.

Zzzn Sleep Apparel System, features
ZZZN is a sleep support system that integrates biometric data to optimize short sleep. The device uses smart biometric rings, capable of monitoring physiological parameters. These data are analyzed in real-time to identify the ideal moment for rest. Through the use of integrated sounds and lighting in the garment, ZZZN guides the user through a 20-minute sleep cycle, promoting deep relaxation and a gradual, natural awakening, thus optimizing energy recovery and overall well-being.
