Casa IED opens in New York: a new space for cultural exchange and connection

A hub for collaboration, creativity, and community, born together with Salotto, a Brooklyn-based creative collective

Casa IED opens today in New York, the first space dedicated by the Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) to cultural exchange and collaboration between designers, creatives, and local communities.
The project aims to foster synergies and cross-cultural dialogue in a city that symbolizes global interconnection.

Casa IED is a place to work, create, and share ideas. It welcomes diverse voices and visions, reflecting the institute’s educational and cultural mission.

Born in collaboration with Salotto, a Brooklyn creative hub

The launch of Casa IED happens in partnership with Salotto, a creative hub founded by Italian professionals in Brooklyn, including IED Alumni Gabriel Zangari (Design Executive) and Emiliano Ponzi (Illustrator and Visual Artist).

Salotto unites fourteen Italian designers living in New York, active in design, video, illustration, and digital arts.
It’s a place where ideas and people meet, generating innovation and cultural exchange, perfectly aligned with the spirit of Casa IED.

Casa IED: a new model for sharing knowledge

The IED – Società Benefit, owned by the Francesco Morelli Foundation, launches Casa IED as a new way to return knowledge to the community. Through a public program—including talks, panels, lectures, and workshops—it creates moments for dialogue and collective growth.

The goal is to foster open and inclusive conversation, where design becomes a tool for social transformation and cultural sharing.

A new global hub for education, culture, and shared creativity

Casa IED is a strategic addition to the international network of the Istituto Europeo di Design, which includes campuses, Alumni Chapters, and local communities worldwide. With its opening in New York, IED starts a new chapter in the dialogue between education, culture, and territory. It is a space where relationships, research, and collaborative design come together, turning creativity into a tool for connection and collective growth.
