After a year of forced hiatus, ICFF returns to the Jacob Javits Center, this time in conjunction with WantedDesign
After a year and a half, New York City is once again North America’s design center. On November 14 and 15, the Jacob Javits Center, after hosting an emergency hospital and a vaccine center, will return to its original purpose and simultaneously host ICFF 2021, WantedDesign, and, exceptionally, BDNY, the exhibition dedicated to boutique hotels. A comprehensive overview of furniture design to celebrate the return of physical events.
In addition to ICFF, New York’s design exhibition since 1980, the Jacob Javits Center also hosts WantedDesign. Founded in New York City in 2011 by Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat, WantedDesign is a platform to promote American design, which has been recently acquired by the company that organizes ICFF.
For the 2021 edition of the three fairs, the halls of the Jacob Javits Center will host over 300 exhibitors from 25 countries and an audience of more than 10,000 architects, interior designers, retailers and communication operators. The spotlight of the 2021 edition will be on sustainability.
Special events by ICFF and WantedDesign
ICFF continues its partnership with Bernhardt Design to promote emerging talents through the ICFF Studio competition. For 15 years a jury of industry experts has selected the best works to display at ICFF. The participants in this edition are José Bared, Conor Coghlan and Joel Rojastre, three winning designers from 2020 who were unable to exhibit as the fair was cancelled.
A special refreshment area is Oasis, by Float Studio. Its design is simple and mimics natural landscapes; it is a cozy environment that has plenty of seating, phone charging stations and headphones for meditation.
Lastly, ICFF and WantedDesign offer a rich program of talks, finally in person. Guests include French agency Peclers Paris, outlining trends for 2023; designer Dror Benshetrit, sharing his vision of Dror’s Supernature Labs about finding new ways to immerse oneself in nature; NKBA, exploring the luxury kitchen industry; other topics will be the influence of social media on interior design, and trends in luxury interiors.
NYCxDesign
ICFF and WantedDesign are part of NYCxDesign, New York’s design week, November 11-18. Italian companies, such as Artemide, Foscarini, and Poltrona Frau are also participating in NYCxDesign.
