The global design award, in collaboration with the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, is set to recognize the most innovative and sustainable projects
The Compasso d’Oro International Award is officially open for submissions, offering designers and design brands from around the world the opportunity to be recognized as global leaders in the industry. This prestigious award, promoted by the Italian Association for Industrial Design (ADI) in collaboration with the General Commissariat of Italy for Expo 2025 Osaka, is set to celebrate the most innovative and relevant works aligned with the themes of Expo 2025.
A global stage for sustainable design
With its focus on the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” Expo 2025 Osaka aims to highlight the transformative potential of design, capable of saving, empowering, and connecting. The Compasso d’Oro International Award fits perfectly into this context, recognizing projects that best embody sustainability and innovation, key principles of the global event.
Compasso d’Oro International Award: who can participate and how
Participation is open to products, product systems, services, and events from the 161 countries participating in Expo 2025, all of which must meet the criteria of forward-thinking design, promoting solutions capable of positively influencing society. A multidisciplinary jury will select the most significant works, which will then be displayed at the Italy Pavilion, designed by Mario Cucinella, from September 5, 2025.
An international recognition for Italian design
After being showcased at Expo, the winning projects will become part of the Compasso d’Oro Design Collection and will be permanently displayed at the ADI Design Museum in Milan. The historic collection includes some of the most iconic pieces of global design, such as the Olivetti Lettera 22 typewriter, the Fiat 500, and the Sacco chair—symbols of Italian excellence.
The Compasso d’Oro International Award represents a unique opportunity for designers to showcase their work on the global stage, contributing to the creation of a more sustainable and innovative future.
