Vertical and visionary: the tower that dances on the sea

Organic architecture and structural precision: Miramar Tower redefines a new concept of living in Porto

In the heart of Porto, just steps from the Atlantic Ocean, Miramar Tower stands as a bold and original architectural presence. Designed by the studio OODA, the tower is defined by its dynamic form and a volumetric structure that breaks away from traditional vertical residential typologies.

While its height echoes the nearby towers of Pasteleira Park, Miramar Tower sets itself apart through concept, language, and experimentation. Its goal: to create new residential typologies that enhance the connection with the outdoors through continuous terraces of over 200 square meters per floor.

Architecture and structure in dialogue

The structural core of the tower is based on a vertical, tree-like matrix — a choice that allows for maximum typological flexibility and high spatial quality. Each floor, arranged with one or two apartments, follows a helical layout, giving the building a sense of sculptural verticality.

The result? A tower that appears to rotate on itself, with 360-degree balconies that shape a fluid, cohesive, and powerful architectural language — turning each floor into a unique spatial experience.

A concrete signature: between aesthetics and function

The key word of the project is singularity. To avoid repetition, the designers deliberately “shifted” the horizontal slabs of the terraces, creating a plastic composition entirely in exposed concrete.
As a result, the surfaces take on a dual role — both communicative and climatic.

Each housing unit is surrounded by a spacious terrace and a private garden — a kind of suspended green curtain that strengthens the connection with the sea landscape while providing privacy, shade, and natural ventilation.

Biodiversity starts from the ground

On the ground floor, the atrium opens outward and hosts natural vegetation, creating an indoor microclimate in harmony with the environment. This hybrid public space connects the entrance with other shared uses, giving the city back a fragment of domestic nature.
