From December 1 to 6, 2026, the Miami Beach Convention Center welcomes the new edition of Design Miami 2026. The flagship fair gathers over 75 exhibitors, bringing together international galleries, Special Projects, and the Curio platform. Curatorial Director Charlene Prempeh leads the program around the theme Unveiling—an invitation to rediscover functional art objects by revealing the hidden stories, creative processes, and master craftsmanship beneath the surface.
Four Curatorial Threads Spanning Process, Materiality, and Culture
The Design Miami 2026 selection explores contemporary and historical collecting through four distinct conceptual pathways:
- Process as Aesthetic: Galleries such as Adrian Sassoon, Wexler Gallery, and Thomsen Gallery highlight the artisan’s touch. From vibrant porcelain landscapes by Pippin Drysdale and Bouke de Vries to historic woven bamboo masterpieces from the 1930s–1970s, manual skill defines each work’s identity.
- Subverting Archetypes: Boccara Gallery presents 20th-century tapestries by Modern Masters like Le Corbusier and Alexander Calder. Charles Burnand Gallery conceals new creations under semi-translucent architectural drapes revealed via automated choreographies, while Uchronia and Lefebvre et Fils blend floral and marine motifs in the Mare Florum ceramic collection.
- Material Poetry: Long-Sharp Gallery, Carpenters Workshop Gallery, and David Gill Gallery challenge common expectations of raw materials. Bronze works by Ingrid Donat and Frederik Molenschot alternate between massive weight and luminous lightness, while Cristina Grajales Gallery presents a sculptural surfboard inspired by mycelium root networks.
- Mirrors of Society and Place: Diletante and Espasso celebrate mid-century Brazilian design heritage with historic pieces by Jorge Zalszupin and Joaquim Tenreiro, alongside re-editions created for Lina Bo Bardi’s SESC Pompeia. Meanwhile, Mindy Solomon Gallery presents works by African and diaspora artists responding directly to the Kenyan landscape.
Special Projects and the Curio Platform: Immersive Scenographies
In addition to traditional gallery spaces, Design Miami 2026 expands its footprint dedicated to large-scale installation work and independent talent:
- Under the Skin by Achille Salvagni: The designer introduces four limited-edition works wrapped in parchment, reviving a three-thousand-year-old technique for a modern audience.
- Charles Zana’s Parisian Collector Apartment: The architect recreates an intimate interior staging collectible furniture within a lived-in setting.
- The Curio Platform: Highlights include Tokio’s carbon-fiber light installations, KAMEH’s black sculptural mirrors, and an enchanted blown-glass forest created by Klove Studio.
Through design talks, VIP experiences, and cultural programs, the fair reaffirms Miami Beach as a global epicenter for high-level collectible design.
