From 23 to 27 September, Cersaie, one of the world’s largest and most important trade fairs dedicated to ceramic tiles and bathroom furnishings, will be back to BolognaFiere
Cersaie 2019 has a new outlook: a new image and a new logo for a changing world. Cersaie becomes Open Cersaie, a new concept of trade fair, a platform to establish relationships.
Building, Dwelling, Thinking: the conferences
Among the most important events of Cersaie 2019, there will be “Building, Dwelling, Thinking”, as usual, hosting internationally renowned architects. One of this year’s protagonists will be French firm Jakob+McFarlane, known for several projects including Georges restaurant in the Centre G. Pompidou in Paris (2000), the reconstruction of the theater of Pont-Audemer in Normandy (2001), the Florence Loewy Books by Artists bookstore in Paris (2001), Docks de Paris (2008), the Orange Cube (2010) and the Euronews headquarters in Lyon (2014).
Argentine architect Emilio Ambasz, the curator of the famed exhibition “Italy: the new domestic landscape”, MoMA, 1972, will be another prominent speaker in the program of conferences of Cersaie 2019, “Building, Dwelling, Thinking”. Ambasz, renowned for his green philosophy applied to technology, has won several awards for his projects. Among them, we can mention the Grand Rapids Art Museum in Michigan (1976), the “Casa de Retiro Espiritual” in Cordoba, Spain (1980), and the Conservatory of the San Antonio Botanical Garden in Texas, winner of the Progressive Architecture Award in 1985, of the National Glass Association Award for Excellence in Commercial Design in 1988 and of the Quaternario Award in 1990. Furthermore, Emilio Ambasz designed the Vertebra chair with Giancarlo Piretti, for Castelli, in 1979, which is currently part of the permanent collection of MoMA.
“Building, Dwelling, Thinking” will also host architects Anupama Kundoo and Felipe Assadi.
The “Lesson in reverse” 2019 will be held by director Francesca Molteni, who will explore the relationships between cinema, videos and design.
Moreover, “Building, Dwelling, Thinking” will host the first edition of the ADI Booth Design Award, in addition to the ADI Ceramics and Bathroom Design Award.
Cersaie: themed exhibitions
Cersaie will host a themed exhibition also this year, “Famous Bathrooms”, dedicated to bathrooms inspired by celebrities from the world of culture or the show biz, or people who have become famous for any other reason. Click here to discover everything about the exhibition.
Ceramic tiles and bathroom furnishings: activities for architects
Among the several activities, Tiling Town will be back, and, for this edition, it will be dedicated to large format slabs. The protagonists of the “Press Cafés” will be the 12 most important design magazines on the Italian scene. The meetings will consists in informal conversations on bathroom furnishings and ceramic tiles between the editors and professional experts.
