Pordenone Design Week, dedicated to the city of the future, returns from 7 to 11 March 2022
The eleventh edition of Pordenone Design Week opens today, 7 March. The design event is organized by Consorzio Universitario di Pordenone, Isia Roma Design, Confindustria Alto Adriatico and Associazione Culturale Pordenone Design. Promoted with the support of Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia, Comune di Pordenone, BCC Pordenonese e Monsile, Fondazione Friuli, Camera di Commercio di Pordenone e Udine, it includes 4 days of meetings and events and ends on 11 March.
The event is an important moment of cultural exchange between the educational and production systems. For a week, Pordenone becomes an extended think tank for discussion, exploring the challenges needed to create a “city of design”.
Pordenone Design Week 2022: sustainability and complexity
Several workshops will address the key issues of the 2022 edition, sustainability and complexity. Students of the three-year degree course of the Isia Roma Design institute in Pordenone, selected students from local secondary schools, in particular Isis Sacile e Brugnera, Liceo Artistico E. Galvani of Cordenons, and representatives from the Salesian University Institute of Venice, Itis Alto Adriatico, collaborations with Cinemazero and Liceo Leopardi Majorana of Pordenone, will carry out special projects involving several companies. Among them are Ema Inox, Pezzutti Group, Tesolin, Nord Pas, Santa Lucia Mobili, L&S Italia, Fondazione Pordenonelegge, Prontoauto with Sina, Medesy, Saratoga, Fonderia Roldo.
The works will be opened by Alberto Felice De Toni, scientific director of Cuoa Business School, former Rector of the University of Udine, with a lecture entitled “Sustainability does not cost: an opportunity to be seized in the complexity of becoming.”
The event will also host the “Premio Eccellenze del Design Fvg”, which awards 20 projects and designers from Friuli Venezia-Giulia, selected from the Adi Design Index 2020 and 2021, in the running for the Compasso d’Oro 2022.
Conferred by the ADI FVG delegation to highlight the important role of companies and designers from the region in Italian design research, the award is part of the PDW to underline the support and the link with the event held in Pordenone.
Thursday, 10 March, according to Pordenone Design Week tradition, will be the day dedicated to “Lezioni in Vetrina” and design will enter the city, thanks to the participation of some stores in the historic center. “After the pandemic – explains Andrea Zanni, director of the University Consortium – we are partially returning to the original format, in collaboration with the world of industry, culture, economy, institutions, university and school, to connect Design, Art and Architecture to the production system, increasing values and visions.”
