Collectible design at Nomad Capri 2022

In summer 2022, Nomad, the traveling exhibition of collectible design, returned to Capri

The tenth edition of Nomad, Nomad Capri, was held from July 6 to 10, 2022. Dedicated exclusively to collectible design, Nomad is a one-of-a-kind exhibition. Launched in 2017, the brainchild of Giorgio Pace and Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte, Nomad is a traveling exhibition that seeks the most exclusive locations, perfect backdrops for exhibiting collectible design. Since its first edition, at Villa La Vigie in Monte Carlo, Nomad has traveled to Venice, Palazzo Soranzo Van Axel, to Théoule-sur-Mer, Palais Bulles, and to Sankt Moritz, Chesa Planta.

In summer 2022, the tenth edition of Nomad found another dream location: the Certosa di San Giacomo, on Capri island. The Certosa di San Giacomo is a historic building on the island of Capri, dating back to 1371. Built by Count Giacomo Arcucci, secretary to Queen Joan I, the Charterhouse of San Giacomo is set in an emerald green landscape. From its jagged cliffs, it offers a breathtaking view of the Faraglioni and the Mediterranean Sea, and it’s just a short walk from the famous Piazzetta.

At Nomad Capri, galleries and special projects

Nomad Capri featured many international art-design galleries and several special projects. The 11 participating galleries came from all over the world (London, New York, Shanghai, Naples, Piacenza, Mexico City…). Unno Gallery, for example, an already highly successful emerging gallery in Mexico City, exhibited the Lava collection, by Habitación 116, and some pieces by designer C.S. Nuñez, who represents the new generation of Mexican artists and designers.

Draga & Aurel, with Galleria Rossana Orlandi, presented Coralia, among the special projects. Inspired by the colors of the Mediterranean Sea, Coralia is a collection of objects using different materials. Rough concrete worked with sea salt sits alongside transparent resins, lit by neon lights, and salvaged fabrics.
