Lasvit takes part in Milan Design Week 2024 with Re/Creation, a monumental fused glass installation highlighting the Czech brand’s craftsmanship and innovative approach to design
During Milan Design Week, April 16-21, Lasvit will present Re/Creation at Palazzo Isimbardi. The monumental fused glass installation will highlight the brand’s craftsmanship and innovative approach to design, architecture and glass making.
Lasvit’s exhibition at Palazzo Isimbardi
Aiming to redefine the relationship between glass and architecture, the centerpiece of the exhibition is an installation designed by Lasvit’s Art Director Maxim Velcovsky. Entitled Porta, the monumental piece employs Lasvit’s unique expertise in artisanal glass for architecture as it showcases the various facets of fused glass. Crafted in Europe’s largest glass kiln, this installation is a display of technical prowess and an illustration of the brand’s capabilities in terms of size and variability, whilst ensuring precision and creativity that meet the rigorous demands of architectural projects.
Nebula, the new collection that pays homage to Scandinavian design
In addition to the installation in the central courtyard, Lasvit is excited to present Nebula, a new collection created by acclaimed Swedish architecture firm Claesson Koivisto Rune. Nebula encapsulates the essence of Scandinavian design and is made using technical glass fabricated with a striking metallic coating.
Bois de Cristal by Culenova
Another highly innovative project is the bespoke installation Bois de Cristal by Lasvit Senior Designer Maria Culenova. This unique piece combines folded plywood and layers of copper to create a never-before-seen lighting effect through a custom LED module enhanced by distinctively textured clear glass.
Neverending Glory, limited edition
Lastly, at Milan Design Week 2024, Lasvit celebrates its iconic Neverending Glory series (designed by Jan Plechac and Henry Wielgus) with a special limited edition. A gold version of the La Scala pendant lamp inspired by the opulent chandeliers of Milan’s famous theater enhances this stunning collection, offering a new perspective on a beloved design.
With its installations and new collections, unveiled as a world premiere at Palazzo Isimbardi, Lasvit reaffirms its role as an innovator in working with glass and other materials.
