Maria Murawsky redesigns Empira Group’s Berlin office, embracing the timeless and modular design of USM Modular Furniture
In Berlin, Polish architect Maria Murawsky has transformed the E Office of Empira Group, the renowned real estate investment platform in Europe and the United States, into a design project that blends modernity and tradition. Located in a prestigious historic building on Kurfürstendamm, this 300-square-meter space combines elegant finishes and iconic design pieces with classical architectural details such as frescoed ceilings and plaster moldings.
Murawsky aimed to preserve the building’s historic authenticity while introducing contemporary elements to create a lighter atmosphere, including USM Modular Furniture pieces. “The idea was to break the solemnity of the plasterwork and frescoes with a modern touch: concrete, contemporary furniture, and minimalist details,” the architect explains. This approach achieved a balance between workspaces and relaxation areas, making the office not only functional but also inviting.
The color scheme, meticulously understated, enhances a highly sophisticated environment. The high ceilings, along with ornamental details in every room, evoke a sense of extraordinary precision. The selected materials—oak, marble, brass—appear in neutral tones of white, beige, and gray, forming a palette that is both curated and refined.
USM Modular Furniture Takes Center Stage
USM Modular Furniture played a key role in this project. The modernity of the USM Haller modular system, chosen in Pure White, harmonizes with the classic and baroque aesthetics of the space, creating striking visual contrasts. Modular desks and drawer units organize the office with efficiency and style, providing spacious work surfaces and flexible, tidy storage solutions.
Thanks to its unique identity, the Swiss company has embodied the sought-after blend of tradition and modernity that Murawsky aimed for.
Rethink, redesign, revalue
USM Modular Furniture’s philosophy, “rethink – redesign – revalue,” perfectly reflects Murawsky’s design approach: reinterpreting spaces to enhance quality of life and meet the needs of their occupants. For decades, USM systems have been a versatile and sustainable choice for smart, dynamic offices that adapt to evolving environments and user requirements.
Thanks to this flexibility, Empira Group’s new Berlin office stands as an example of timeless modernity, where design, functionality, and well-being come together in perfect harmony.
