From September 5 to 8, 2026, at Shanghai Hongqiao, the 58th edition of the international trade fair redefines the future of interior design and manufacturing
There was a time when major furniture fairs were mere display windows to admire the season’s novelties and shake hands with suppliers. Today, that model is no longer enough. In an industry transformed by the digitalization of consumer behavior, the reorganization of supply chains, and the climate emergency, the design world demands venues capable of interpreting complexity. CIFF Shanghai 2026 answers this call: for its 58th edition—scheduled from September 5 to 8, 2026, at the Shanghai Hongqiao exhibition venue—it launches a new strategic vision built on three core pillars: Design, Digital Intelligence, and Sustainability.
The declared ambition goes far beyond the purely exhibition dimension. CIFF Shanghai 2026 aims to consolidate its metamorphosis from a temporary event into a true permanent industrial ecosystem—a year-round hub where design culture blends with technological innovation.

Project at the Core: Enhancing Brand Identity
In today’s market, design is no longer a simple aesthetic or decorative factor, but the primary asset for building brand identity and winning over increasingly demanding markets. The Shanghai event takes on this challenge by featuring Design Eden · Contemporary Design Trade Fair, a massive 50,000-square-meter hall entirely dedicated to designer brands, creative studios, and independent young talents.
In this scenario, design culture finds expression both theoretically—thanks to the CIFF Shanghai Design Conference, bringing together Western design figures and leading Chinese names—and celebrationally, with the debut of the Golden Creation Award, created to honor products capable of charting new living trends.

The Phygital Revolution: Digital Intelligence Serving Retail
The other major transformation involves distribution and retail methods. From manufacturer to end consumer, technology is rewriting the rules of the game. For this reason, the 2026 edition highlights the revamped New Retail Hall: an 8,000-square-meter area where 15 leading international brands will showcase integrated sales models live, seamlessly bridging e-commerce, physical showrooms, and data analytics.
The spatial experience is enhanced by the immersive use of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), while the fair’s digital platform offers advanced multilingual services for buyers and industry professionals. Furthermore, the partnership with retail giant Red Star Macalline will spark a nationwide matchmaking program, accelerating connections between production lines and retail networks.

Sustainability: The New Frontier of Competitiveness
This is no longer a matter of brand image, but a structural necessity to survive in the global market. The fair’s response unfolds across three operational fronts:
- Process Innovation: featuring the concurrent WMF International Woodworking Machinery Fair, focusing on next-generation, energy-efficient woodworking machinery.
- Recognition of Eco-Commitment: through the establishment of the Green Sustainability Award to celebrate products made with recyclable structures and low-emission materials.
- Material Research: thanks to the new International Materials Selection Center, designed to guide companies toward transparent and eco-friendly sourcing choices.

From Trade Fair to Ecosystem: Boundless Expansion
The event’s architecture extends into interior architecture with the Integrated Home Building area—developed alongside the China International Building & Decoration Fair—to meet the growing demand for integrated, turnkey furnishing solutions.
At the same time, CIFF Shanghai 2026’s international vocation is reflected in recent edition numbers (over 470 targeted B2B meetings and contracts closed for over $8.14 million) and in the continuous promotion of its 5 key sectors: woodworking machinery, upholstered furniture, outdoor, office, and living/dining spaces. Completing the picture are five thematic research exhibitions—including The Hidden Realm, HOTLINE, and Design Gravity—conceived as laboratories for cross-pollination between art, lifestyle, and commerce.
From September 5 to 8, 2026, the international design community will gather once again at Shanghai Hongqiao to chart the course of an industry that does not just want to adapt to the future, but intends to design it.
