Youngtalents: experimental design

Stoft is a Swedish design studio based in Malmö founded by industrial designers Jenny Ekdahl, Ola Nystedt and Joel Herslow in 2013

Their work builds on the trio’s complementary approaches towards design. Whether a conceptual or commercial project, a driving force behind Stoft’s creative process is to find a balance between poetic design and industrial manufacturing

The objects by studio Stoft are the result of cutting-edge techniques and traditional craftsmanship, exploring alternative production modes. Their designs are produced in unique one-offs, limited editions or in larger batches, made by them or in collaboration with skilled craftsmen or producers. An example is represented by the Leech lamp, inspired by the organic shapes of nature.

Leech is a glass drop-shaped lamp that embraces all the natural and organic qualities of mouth-blown glass. Leech can be mounted on walls, suspended from the ceiling or placed on any flat surface as a table lamp.

Each lamp has a unique shape and the color varies slightly because of its handmade nature. [Photo Ulrika Kestere – Text A.M.]
